What if you put a few treats in a bit of wet food? I wonder if that will help reassociate it with good.
I tried that, but she smells the wet food and turns her nose up.
Darn!
Well, we are now to the point that she CAN keep food down, but she just WON'T eat it because she now believes herself important enough to be on an "all treats" diet, so we have now had to resort to torture. New rule in the house is as follows:
Feedings of Nutri-Cal paste will be forcefully administered via syringe in 1mL increments until voluntary eating is observed. Do not beg for leniency - all pleas for mercy will be disregarded henceforth until we reach a state of mutual agreement and compliance. Thank you in advance.
Signed,
The lowly cat servants of the Duncan house
What about people food, Jess? Isn't there some sort of meat that just makes Lenore go absolutely gaga?
Like Elvira does with turkey??? And chicken, and tuna, and anything else she can get her grubby little mitts onto!!!!!!!
My monkey is one of those rare gems who will not under any circumstances ever touch any type of people food. The Nutri-Cal is actually really good for her until she starts eating her regular food. She's just being a stubborn brat because she's feeling better and is trying to take advantage of the whole "I'm sick and all I can possibly stand to eat is treats" bit.![]()
She's also decided to act like a diva and fuss and scream at us unless her blanket is just exactly the way she wants it in the exact spot that she wants it. She has developed the "Queen of the World" attitude and we are now nothing but lowly slaves set upon the Earth to hand-feed her treats and fan her with palm fronds. Meow is now translating into - "Bow before me slave! I am the almighty Queen Lenore!" Mind you, that's a rough translation...
Elvira is horrified that Lenore will not touch people food. She's all "But mum, tell her its so good. And I'm pretty sure the turkey tastes like the birds I see out the window. And the tuna in the can tastes the way I imagine all those fishes in the Pet store tasting. Lenore, you don't know what you're missing!!!"
At least she IS meowing, and is finally on the mend after the terrible scare she gave everyone.
And she told Elvy she is royalty. You're living with her Royal Rockishness Lenore. Weren't you aware of that?![]()
I've tried to tell her how good people food is too, but she won't hear of it! She's definitely starting to perk up. No more issues, but more energy, more fussiness, being more contrary, so yeah, she's getting back to her old self!
Oh I know I'm a lowly member of the household of Her Royal Hiney-ness, the Great Grand Pubaa of Upper Butt-crack, but suppose seeing her at her worst and having her be so dependent on me for a few days made me forget my place - on my knees heeding to her every beck and call and worshiping her every meow!

Very true! She's the only one I've ever had that doesn't counter surf! She table surfs, but only because I put her food up there so Mudd won't steal it. She doesn't even LIKE doing that!

Wow Jess. Just wow. Sometimes I worry that if you guys didn't claim her Royal Rockishness when you did, that she wouldn't have a good, loved life. And that makes me sad.![]()
I think so too. We're either the 3rd or 4th home she's had, and she's only 4 years old. That's a different home every year, and that's not cool. It just worked out perfectly for her to come to us, and I think it happened for a reason.
I found her in an ad on Craigslist, and when we went to get her, the people that we got her from just looked so unconcerned that she was leaving them. It would've broken my heart! She was clean and looked well taken care of, but I honestly believe they were selling her to get a drug fix. That's why I got her so cheap - I offered them less than 1/2 of what they were asking because that's all I had, and initially they said no. An hour later they called me back and accepted my offer, and I jumped in the car and went to pick her up right then. If I hadn't, there's no telling where she would've ended up. She could have gone to a kitty mill since she's not fixed. They acted like they didn't really care who she went to, no questions asked about where she was going, and I haven't heard from them since.

And we're loved and happy!![]()
AND....... devoted to the rock that is Lenore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3

Sorry - I had a "Grease" moment there!
She's definitely feeling better. She's perky and alert and fuss and wants to play, but she's still being a brat and refusing to eat, so the syringe feedings continue. It's only 3-4x a day tho, so that's not that big of a deal. She even had her first feeding sans Reglan this morning and has shown no signs whatsoever of vomiting!
