Update : Today was the Day for the Re check and re bandaging of Hansel's paw/leg.
I dropped him off at the Vet and she had a busy morning, so she said she probably will get to him mid day. So since he was not having a feeding till 4pm anyways, Art picked him up when he got off work at 3.30.
She told him, she was herself amazed in how good he healed ! It looks so good she said, it looks more healed then 4 days . She rebandaged it and told us we probably want to pick a bigger cone up for him, since he can reach his leg with the one he had .
He has to keep this bandage on till this weekend and then we can take it off and he can take care of his own stitches and pull them out himself. By then he should be awesome healed . SInce its so healed already.
I havent seen it yet , ARt either. But she said she is super impressed with the progress.
So after work Mommy Meanny went to the Store and got a bigger cone for him.

he is MAD !!! But he can not reach his leg. He does have lots of room in there and its also not tight around his neck, because he does not have the extra paw to peel it off ! hehe Mean mommy !!
So needles to say he is mad and meowing when he sees us. We can take it easy off , for feeding . Lets see how this night goes with it. He was drving me insane.
I am soooooooo happy !!!! Hoping for him to heal quicker and more for this week !!
Sometimes as wounds start to heal, they really start to itch, so maybe that is why he has started to mess with it and try to get to through the bandage to the wound - it probably itches him under there, especially because it was redressed yesterday. Hopefully just redressing it enough and having him in the cone will help. The red bandage, almost like the ace bandage (except it sticks to itself) is called Coban, and is available at vets offices, your local pharmacies (Like CVS and Walgreens) and also at petstores (vet wrap it is called). It is probably the best to wrap him in with a few layers. It depends on what she has over the actual wound though as she may not have gauze directly over the wound, she may have something that wont stick directly to it. I hope he continues to leave it alone!a little set back today ............................. Art stayed home and I went to work.
Middle of the day he calls me , I need to come home right now, Hansel keeps shaking his leg so much and he shook the bandage right off his leg ! He is chewing on the soar part . I ran home . On my way home i stopped and got gauze and tape and such and ran . We tried wrapping him up good, but he shook that one right off too. I do not know how tight i can go so i am afraid to make it too tight.
Well needless to say, he went to the Vet and had it rebandaged to day. She said, he needs to keep it on till Friday at least.
I myself had a dentist appt so had to run to that. Art said, by the time they got to the Vet he already chewed it a bit bloody .:cry: I am so sad !! Both of us have to g o to work tomorrow and i am so afraid to come home and he has it open again and chewed open.
What can i do ?????

hard plasticis the cone hard or soft that you are using?
Might try blue papery one alone or with the hard one. You can invert them the other way. Ours freaked with hard cone...paper ones you can turn down and they have no access. Might be something you can try. I had no luck with hard cones. If you need a pic let me know I can dig one out of the closet to show you if you do not know what I mean.

I am glad to hear Hansel is improving, and will continue to pray that you find something that will keep that bandage on there for four more days. Could the vet give him a light sedative to make him sleepy for those last couple of days? Do you have a neighbor or family or friend you could leave him with while you are at work?
