Yeah, I'm sure being a TV star and all, Kat Von D is likely very busy. It probably wouldn't hurt to send her another message, just in case she missed the last one.

the episode is on tonight at 9. i saw the commercials and am curious what happened to her kitty. i dont think i will get through the episode without crying, though!:Cry:

That was very sad. I guess she doesn't know what happened to him though :Cry:. Which makes me wonder if she allowed him to go outside? He didnt get injured inside and she said she didn't know if it was a car or "wild animal" like they said on the show. If he wasn't allowed out I feel like she would've mentioned he escaped, right?

I was thinking the same thing.....surely she did not just let him outside. I am very sad for Ludwig and Kat. It is heartbreaking to lose a loved member of your family. It was hard not to open the floodgates when she was talking about him!!:Cry::Cry:

It sounded to me like he had HCM and died from one of the very serious complications that can occur with HCM - saddle thrombus.

What Kat described as "from his pelvis down was all mangled" is exactly how many owners would describe it when they don't know what has happened. The cat's back end suddenly doesn't work, they are often paralyzed or seen dragging their back legs, screaming out in pain, and many owners confuse this as a back injury. It's caused by a blood clot that breaks free and cuts off the flow of blood to the rear legs. Kat later went on to say "they were trying to keep him alive but his heart gave out".

It's horrible and heartbreaking, and I got choked up watching it. If this is how he died, it's also really unfortunate that this was a huge missed opportunity for someone with a big voice, an advocate for our breed, to bring a lot of light and recognition to this disease that has touched so many of us. I'm sad that she doesn't fully understand what happened to her cat, because she's got 2 more, and probably didn't learn anything from the ordeal...about having them scanned, buying from a breeder who scans, etc...

Yes Marni I am ok.
March 8th is the aniv of my Patches dying and the day one of my friends from a sphynx list died last year.
March 9th is the aniv of my aunt dying and March 10th Bogart who was Patches dad.
Then March 15th will be 1 year since Hope died.
I was so close to Patches and saw her born and was there when she died at age 9.
I lost her in 1989 and thought I could never love a cat that much again.
Brooke is right Kats sphynx could have died that way.
I know breeders who lost cats with HCM that way when they threw a clot and my Stripe
did that at the end.

M2M, I'm sorry March is such a hard time for you. March 21 will be one year since my Harold died from HCM. I can already feel the sadness getting stronger as that day approaches...

I agree with Brooke 100%. It sounds like Kat did a poor job of explaining exactly what happened, but this is precisely what came to my mind when the description was made.

Let's be honest...just how many "wild animals" are going to be stalking a sphynx in city life?

M2M I am so sorry for your sorrow right now but know it is a natural part of grieving. I know the 4th of July will always be tinged with a l sadness as that is when I lost my Willow(RIP). Just know our thoughts and prayers of comfort are with you.
