You all need to come here and see Cleo and Wrinkles.
They will prove you wrong.

I have to agree with Mews2much....my girl kitties, both sphynx and nonsphynx, have always been more loving and cuddlier. My boys are more playful and mischievious. It mostly depends on the individual cat, though...each have their own unique personality.

I have to agree about the girls!

My little princess is more loving and cuddly than my boy. Plus she's always purring!!

I find that my boy wants affection on his terms as well... but he gives me affection often! I can't just pick him up and bring him over because he probably wont stay... he likes to ninja around the house. He follows me from room to room and chirps at me all the time as well. We're inseparable... I'm not sure if it's because he's a male or because we have a close bond.

My 2 girls are the first cats I've ever owned so It's hard to say- but with the 2 girls they have different personalities. Nudie wants love when she's ready (not when I'm ready), likes to be carried like a princess and sleeps in my arms at night. Skinderella does not like to be held much but will purrrr and love on me for hours. I have to agree that it depends on the cat- I have 2 of the same sex and yet they are very diffrent. Good luck- I think when you go and meet the potential babies you will know which one is right for you:BigSmile:

Its all about the boys in our house too! I have 3 DSH boys and a sphynx boy and they are all cuddle bunnys!
Since I left home and had cats for fun rather than breeding/showing I have had all boys, personally I get on better with them!

I have a boy and a girl DSH and the girl loves to be loved (and gives plenty of love bits and purrs) by my hubby and I but disappears if anyone else comes over. My 2 boy Sphynx's are different too. Gulliver likes to be near you and sleeps in our bed and comes out for company to say hello and maybe sit near them, but Bacon he sleeps ON you, sits ONn your lap and gives head butt kisses to strangers  So I really think it depends on the cat, but I think girls are not as needy as boys.

I have always had female cats for my own reasons but again it depends on the cat. Luca is the first male I have ever had and I would have to say Lulu is way more affectionate than him. Luca is very affectionate but mostly on his own time. (He is the trouble maker in the house). He'll come sit with me whenever I'm sitting but he won't purr unless he feels like it. Lulu on the other hand follows me everywhere, is always at the door to greet me when I come home and cries when she is separated from me by a door. She is especially happy in the mornings.

When I was choosing a kitten, the breeder actually told me that male sphynx tend to be more loving and affectionate while the females are more independent. That was a contributing factor to getting Berlin (that, and the love at first sight thing) because I thought a more independent cat would cope better with me being away at work all day. Berlin can get a little typically cat-like and aloof, which sucks when I'm in a cuddly mood and she's not, but I think she'll mellow out as she gets a little older.

I have both male and female Sphynx. Yes the males are lovers.... but the girls... they are awesome as well. Lalena is alot of fun! She sits on her brother's head alot...lol!

My first Sphynx is a male and I was always amazed at how downright polite he is! He takes turns when he plays...hardly is ever bad. Later I bought 2 kittens (1 male and 1 female) I was amazed at the differences between the sexes. . My baby boy is like a reincarnated hippy...he's very laid back...just wants to love you and have his ears scratched. His sister wants to rule the world and is in training with my 18 year old Russian Blue to be Queen someday. They are both very loving and wonderful cats...wouldn't trade them for anything.

The best way to pick your cat isn't by if it's a boy or girl...meet the cat... pick by their personality or let them pick you.

I personally have had both, they are both fantastic. But, the MALES just slightly take the lead.... Just something, can't explain it's just they give just that little bit more!!

Maybe they are just slightly more intune with us humans

I have one of each. They are both snugglers, they both sleep with me at night. Kwazi (male) is definitely more friendly with other people. For example, over Christmas, I had the whole fam damily over. Eva hid the whole time, Kwazi was all over all of the new people. Kwazi had an easier time adjusting to our home than Eva did, but that could have been because he was first in the house. Kwazi is simply more easygoing than our Eva girl is, but I can't say that is because he is a male. Although I will say, if I were to get a third, I do think I would get a male. Mostly because of the spay/neuter stuff. Kwazi was so easy after his neuter and I've been nothing but a bag of worry since Eva's spay (a week ago). Of course, that is mostly because of my experiences and not because post spay troubles are the norm.

(I know that a few months ago there was a thread about the difference in owning a male sphynx, as opposed to a female sphynx. But, since that thread hasn't been updated in a while, and there are so many new members, I wanted to ask again! So, hope you don't mind me repeating this question if you answered one similar before.)

So---What do you prefer owning, males or females? (Pet Only, but I hope to show in the alter class at some point!) Of course, we all love our babies, but, I've been debating in my mind whether I would prefer to own a male or female, and I thought it would be nice to hear your insight or examples that you think are helpful.

Thanks!
Boy cats all day long for me, & girl dogs ( got 2 of each to balance the numbers out lol ) i think boys cats neutured are so loving, & i love that they grow bigger than the girlies, a little bit of extra kitty to love :) xxx

I have 2 of each and I can say that I have 2 affectionate males, one more than the other. And my female that is bonded to me is very very affectionate and cuddly she is always giving me kisses and loves to be close to me. My other female is slightly older and came to me re homed so its not fair to say she not affectionate she is still settling in and she is really doing great. I think it also just depends on their personality just like anything living.
