it is so hard to leave our babies at the vet but this is often best to give him fluids and the best of care to make a speedy recovery -

@MaoSphynx thinking of you and Mao. Must be difficult for you to not know what they're operating on. Only 3 kg is not much. Hope he'll gain some weight after the operation.

Only update is a test tey did on him yesterday/today.The vet speaks terrible English.Any question we ask him he replies with a "yes,ok"

@MaoSphynx always thought you did speak the language they speak in Egypte. But I now understand you don't am I correct? Must be difficult to not know what is going on with Mao.

We tried with a friend and the vet didn't pick up the phone

Unfortunately there are no vets here (that i have found yet) that has a good knowledge of sphynxes. My boy has severe entropian and he desperately needs the op (i have tried alllll the creams and eyedrops the vet has prescribed with zero success) and the operation day was set twice and both times the vet cancelled with really bad excuses. Before the first date was set i asked what anasthesia will be used and they said Ketomine after which i had to send them articles about why not to use it on a sphynx! Then the vet cancelled 4 hours prior the operation because he had a funeral to attend (fair enough it can happen to anybody). After two days i finally get hold of the vet again and he schedules the op for the following Saturday (that was 5 days ago). Gave my boy a bath the morning and stopped his food 6 hours before the operation time, i call the vet to double-confirm everything is still set aaaand he says no again he cannot do the op coz they dont have oxygen!!!! Come on no oxygen? What about emergencies or unexpected surgeries, are u gonna turn pets away? Well that was Saturday and i asked him when will he do the op and he said he will re-schedule and let me know. Today is Wednesday and i have already sent messages again with no reply my feeling/suspision? Not enough is known about sphynxes here so im being kept on a string. I have spoken to another hugely popular vet here but his detailed knowledge or experience with sphynes? zero. My boy is only the second sphynx that the clinic has seen since they opened Now i know this can be a blessing in disguise and the reason why he is still alive but on the flip-side he really needs this operation as his eyes are progressively getting worse and it kills me to see him in so much discomfort

Did vet diagnosis Mao with kidney infection ? Kidney stones?
My dog had this year's ago amd it was treatable
I would ask vet specifically for a diagnosis
I know there is some language barrier
Hopefully vet can explain things or have someone in vet office to translate?

What was wrong with his eyes?

Hi Mao, yes after allll avenues and medicines we tried we had to eventually had an entropian operation done on both eyes early in January and he had his stitches removed after 10 days and we've never looked back, it wasn't easy at the time but totally worth saving his eyes and eyesight

Sadly,he's not doing any better.He has contracted a virus and the vet said he will most probably die.We are taking to another one to see if he/she can do anything about it.

@MaoSphynx What???? There is nothing they can give Mao to fight off this virus? Im so sorry for you to get news like this I really hope Mao can pull through.
Are you able to go and visit him?
I think its a super good idea for you guys to be getting a second opinion... It sounds like poor Mao has only gone down hill see he got to the vet.

Please keep us updated, you and Mao are in my thoughts and prayers, if you need to talk or need anything feel free to PM me. I know we are billions of miles away from one another but I am here for you and Mao <33333 big hugs.

Did they name the virus? If not ask them what it is ...
