I want to thank everyone for their kind words, thoughts and prayers. My family treats are pets like family members, sometimes I think we forget they aren't human. My daughters, co workers think she's crazy, she's been crying at work, taking off for dr appts and just to spend time with her. Her husband has been going home on breaks to check on her, even. She's so amazed at how you all understand how she feels. Thanks again everyone, this is what makes the Lair so great, we laugh and we cry together, we are always there when someone is in need. We are truly a family.

Rachel didn't get the feeding tube put in on Friday because Muffins lungs are so scared from her asthma. She's spending time with her and is going to make a decision on Wednesday. They have to check her diabetes every 2 hrs. She has picked up on her eating.

You know, it may not be, that Muffin will end up with a feeding tube. She might simply just pass on before
it comes to that. I'm so sorry for your Daughter, I know she doesn't want to let go or give up. Is especially
heartbroken. But, we all have to make the decision sooner or later. Unless, the Lord intervenes. Praying.

Just read your story and I wanted to say I understand exactly where your daughter is coming from. I had a kitty that I nursed through 2 cancer diagnoses, kidney disease, and finally HCM set in and I lost her. I never had to do the feeding tube because I did syringe feeding - would get up in the middle of the night every 4 hours to do that. I took time from work so I could feed her. I had a friend at work whose mother had to intubate a cat, so it happens. Yeah, they are part of the family and it's not crazy. I hope her husband at least can see that's just her nature even if he doesn't agre with her. If I could talk to him I would tell him that his wife has a big heart and she'd be there for him or anyone else in the family. Best to you all.

Rachel is making Muffin as comfortable as possible. She's spoiling her (like always). She made a turkey for her yesterday. Her husband (Alan) wanted her to put the feeding tube in after I convinced her, Muffin would be miserable, so that Rachel would know she had done everything she could for her. Rachel has accepted the best thing to do is let Muffy go with dignity, it's quality not quantity. Muffy has to go for more blood work on Thursday. Thank you @BluesMummy for asking about her.

@Catzzzmeow, your right! I'm just afraid this lull in Muffy is going to make it harder. She was ready to make the decision and with each day, Rachel is getting her hopes up. She's going to UT twice a week, she has her sugar tested either 1x an hour or 2x an hour. Rachel has taken a leave of absence to care for her.

Bless Rachel's heart. Muffin has surely been very loved. It does sound like Rachel needs to know she's done all that she could do without torturing Muffin, but I really hope she doesn't tube her. Does the vet still tell her Muffin can recover from this?

I was told by my vet, who graduated from UT, they were really big on feeding tubes. A feeding tube is not a cure, they still will puke and have diarrhea. Rachel's vet told her the same thing. They had a cat at the UT vet hospital that had had a feeding tube for over a yr. I had to get Rachel to understand that cat doesn't have what Muffin has and it's a lot younger, it's like an experiment cat according to them. Rachel told me on the day they were going to do the tube, that Muffin knew, she could tell it in her eyes, and she didn't want her to do it. Muffin is loved beyond words can express, she was in my daughters wedding! I'm so afraid she's getting her hopes up. Muffs blood sugar was 58 the other day. She's supposed to take her to the er if it goes to 75. Her little ears have been poked so many times, it looks horrible. Rachel quit feeding the special diet because she refused to eat, they told her if she doesn't eat the special diet she will starve to death, a regular diet will kill her. Rachel is letting her eat anything she wants.

Good for her...please tell Rachel that doing all those painful things to Muffin will only make her last days on this earth unhappy ones. Better she should comfort her and surround her with warmth and love. I am proud that she is giving Muffy whatever she wants to eat. Let her last days be happy ones....I totally understand how she feels though.

I understand what you and your daughter are going through. Sadly I had to put my sweet baby girl Shadow to sleep on Friday after an episode on Tuesday. It was the hardest decision I've ever had to make. We as human beings want to protect life at all costs, and as a result can often forget that without quality of life, the quantity doesn't matter. One of the most unselfish, loving final gifts we can give to our 4 legged babies is the release from pain. I will pray for you, your daughter and Muffin. Your daughter knows Muffin better than anyone and will do what's right for her.

@1sphynxlover , ((hugs)) Muffin is one helluva a kitty, a friend. I would luv to see a picture of Muffin in the wedding!
Embrace each day .. Rachel and Muffin have an incredible Bond.. May Muffin continue to talk to Rachel with those eyes..
We take the pain so they don't have t0.. To listen for that whisper in their eyes only unconditional selfless love can hear...
A silent language of an incredible bond only Rachel and Muffin can speak to each other..

(( hugs)))
