Gizzy continues to gag. He did finally poop, but just a little and it was diarrhea. Fortunately it doesn't seem like his fever has returned again. However, though he hasn't really gotten worse, he hasn't gotten better past a point. Tomorrow he goes in for a chest x-ray and to scope down his throat to see if we can get any further in this mystery.

(I am okay from my procedure, though I'm waiting for my test results too.)

Shonna, I hope your tests come out well, I am remembering you in my prayers and wish you a painless and quick recovery.

That being said, I am also thinking of Gizzy and praying that whatever it is that has a hold on him will just let go so your little Gizzard can hurry up and get back to normal.

I just read these three pages of your thread (been out of the loop).

I'm sorry to hear what's going on with Gizzy and hope the next time I check back that he's fine and it's nothing more than a minor stomach thing going on.

Hope your results for your test come back negative. Be well.

Just heard from the vet. The x-rays don't show anything he can see, but he's sending them to a radiologist just to be sure. The scoping however did show something. His throat and up to his nasal passages is raw "like someone took sandpaper to it" and there is a lot of mucus. Poor guy! I'll have more info and find out treatment when I go to pick him up, but at least this sounds treatable. WHEW!

As for me: one of my tests was positive, but why and how to handle it depends on the results of the remaining three which we're still waiting for. So, just because this one is positive doesn't mean it can't be something simple to fix like Giz. I should hopefully have those results tomorrow.

Thanks for all of your support!

Do you think that Gizzy could have stuck his nose in something and inhaled something he shouldn't have? Did he maybe stick his nose in his bath water or did you use a new kitty litter or anything?
Just wondering what could have caused that irritation. Poor baby. I hope he feels all better asap.
As for you, I'm sorry to see the word, "positive", but sending you prayers that all other results come back negative and that you will be fine. HUGS to you and Gizzy.

Giz is home and napping now. Though they had only used light sedation, he was unsteady and frantic for a while. The vet showed me a picture of his throat and it looked very red and irritated. We're not positive of the cause, but think maybe a URI turned into this, or he could've snorted up something that caused irritation. His antibiotic was changed and he's been given a pain med to take for a few days. I'm also supposed to give him a saline nasal wash. Now that we know the problem and he's getting the right stuff, he should hopefully feel better soon.
