He's not a sphynx...but if I could, I'd pack him into my flat right now.

Oz was acting off this afternoon, and when I brought the horses in at 4:30 it was pretty obvious something was really wrong.
He wasn't eating. (This is the greediest horse I know.)
I mean, he *really* wasn't eating. He refused an apple...
He walked into the stable without quibbling. (He panics in stables.)
He walked in, stopped, and peed. Then he lay down.
I had suspected colic at 3pm, but hoped he was just feeling a little off. (He's never sick.)
From being warm under his outdoor rug at 4:30, he was freezing cold at 5pm under his fleece.
When I walked in, he stayed down. He *never* does that.
Definitely colic.

He's now in the warmest rug I could find with a neck cover as well. Temperature seems back to normal (he wouldn't let me take it...and I prefer not to get it with both barrels from a horse...) or he'd have had a fleece under that rug as well.

He's had homeopathic colic meds and belladonna for pain relief. At 7pm we had some poop, and he seems to feel a bit better -- but I'll still be in and out tonight, checking on him.

Right now he's standing up and seems okay, but I've seen some terrible colic cases... so I'm worried.

Healing vibes would be most welcome.

I lost one of my horses last year, on Christmas day.
Due to colic. Had to get her burried, that day..
It is a serious illness. Prayer's for Oz.

@Silke sending lotsof healing vibes and positive thoughts to Oz. Come on Oz, I love reading stories about you (but don't love reading this story) and we need more stories and pics about you the coming years!

A big hug to you Silke!

He is MUCH improved, back to normal and was allowed outside today. (Rugged up to his ears!)
My Landlady is freaking awesome, I can tell you that much. Not only does she have experience with colicking horses, and keeps her calm - but she also had colic meds on hand, and knows the dosages. And she stayed with Oz and me while he was poorly.
But he's all better now, thank God.
Still keeping an eye on him, because I think it was brought on by cold weather.

Woohoo! Happy to hear Oz is feeling better. And good to hear you have an awesome Landlady who helped you with Oz. You deserve some support after the horrible persons you worked for.

I do stay calm, and know what to do, but it's nice to have backup. :)
Nothing worse than being on your own with a sick horse. Not like you can put them in the car and take them to the vet -- and our vet is 45 mins away.
However, if he hadn't improved, that call would have been made. Glad it wasn't necessary, but I'll be very watchful for a while. He has *never* had colic before.

He's completely back to normal.
It is FREEZING cold outside tho, so he's staying wrapped up day and night. We also closed one of the top doors the other night...
and then I came out in the morning, to find the little guy OUTSIDE in the paddock. The door was shut though. So he must have jumped out, I don't know.
So now both top doors are closed -- and I'm looking for a place to put the little guy. It's either that, or a "For Sale" sticker on his butt. I have had it with him, seriously.

Well... if he's jumping fences I guess you know he's back to himself.

Oooooooh that little guy! He's really testing you and driving you crazy. Hope you find a good place for him. Remember how excited you were when you got him, and the exciting was also about this kind of horses being naughty. But I can imagine he's a bit too much naughty.

Well, he was supposed to be for Oz, rather than me. However, he's annoying Oz greatly, it seems. I guess Ozziewozzie got over his infatuation with babies lol.
Ducking under fences I can deal with -- jumping stable doors... not so much. It means I have to close the top doors, which Oz really doesn't like, so rather than having another horse in his box being beneficial, it's working out the opposite.
I have a place who'd take him, but can't go see it yet as I'm off to the UK on Monday for a week.

Sorry to hear Stormy is annoying Oz! Always difficult when you get another "pet" (is a horse a pet?) to give the other one company and it turns out it makes it more though on the first one. Glad to hear you have found a place who want to take him. Sounds like the best solution.

Enjoy your trip in the UK.

Well... enjoy...likely not.
Have to re-rent out the flat, clear everything out. In 7 days. With one day taken up by a memorial. Gonna be hell.

@Silke oh sorry to hear you're not going for pleasure. Sending lots of positive thoughts and some extra energy your way. Is it a personal memorial or a national memorial day? Will think of you.

Old friend of mine died a couple of weeks ago, so we're meeting up for a memorial, as many couldn't come to the funeral.
So while it's a sad occasion, it's also seeing a lot of friends that day.
