He's not a sphynx...but if I could, I'd pack him into my flat right now.
Oz was acting off this afternoon, and when I brought the horses in at 4:30 it was pretty obvious something was really wrong.
He wasn't eating. (This is the greediest horse I know.)
I mean, he *really* wasn't eating. He refused an apple...
He walked into the stable without quibbling. (He panics in stables.)
He walked in, stopped, and peed. Then he lay down.
I had suspected colic at 3pm, but hoped he was just feeling a little off. (He's never sick.)
From being warm under his outdoor rug at 4:30, he was freezing cold at 5pm under his fleece.
When I walked in, he stayed down. He *never* does that.
Definitely colic.
He's now in the warmest rug I could find with a neck cover as well. Temperature seems back to normal (he wouldn't let me take it...and I prefer not to get it with both barrels from a horse...) or he'd have had a fleece under that rug as well.
He's had homeopathic colic meds and belladonna for pain relief. At 7pm we had some poop, and he seems to feel a bit better -- but I'll still be in and out tonight, checking on him.
Right now he's standing up and seems okay, but I've seen some terrible colic cases... so I'm worried.
Healing vibes would be most welcome.
