Please send healing thoughts to my Mudd. I think she may be dying. She's been very sick with a uti/kidney infection, and despite strong medicine, she continues to decline. She has lost so much weight that I can see her bones, she won't eat anything including her favorite cheese, her tummy is very bloated, she whines with every breath, she can barely walk from weakness, and she's urinating blood. The vet can't see her until 930 tomorrow morning, but I have a feeling way deep down that even if she makes it until then, she won't be coming home. Poor Lenore is beside herself because she knows something is wrong. She's so upset and worried and is trying so hard to make it all better. It's absolutely heartbreaking.

I've had her for 10 years since the day she was born, and I feel she may be too old and frail to fight this off. I can't imagine my life without her, but I can't let her suffer this way. She's in agony. If it's something that medicine can't heal quickly within a couple of days, I'll have to make the decision to let her go. Please just pray for her and for me to have the strength to do what's best for her. I know she's not a Sphynx, but she's my baby and my best friend and she has all the love, loyalty, and charisma of a Sphynx. I've seen the SL prayer chain work so many times before, and I'm trying to have faith that everything will work out for the best and that my baby girl will be happy and comfortable somehow.

Poor Sweet Mudd. I hope that the vet can figure things out and that Mudd has the strength to fight. Lenore is such a sweetheart. What a caring girl. Lots of prayers sent your way. Love and hugs from Mr Vito and I.

Mudd is such an amazing and intelligent critter! I think she's an honorary Sphynx due to her life with Lenore, and accepting her without a second though!!! Please, Mudd girl, get better for your mama and Lenore's sake!!!!!

Oh I am so sorry! I lost my heart and my best friend, Gizmo the chinese crested, last summer to CHF, so I know how heartbroken and worried you are. I will pray for your Mudd to have the strength to get thru today and pray for tomorrow that the vet will find a quick and easy fix. Hugs and healing thoughts sent your and Mudds way!

Here's hoping Mudd can pull through. I've always thought she was one of the cutest little terriers I've ever seen...I hope she comes home tomorrow fighting like a champ.

Thanks everyone. It's so hard to sit here helplessly waiting and not be able to do anything. This sucks so bad. It's killing me to see her so miserable.

No vet in the area will do a housecall to come check on her?
Not around here. House calls are pretty much reserved for large breed animals like cows and horses, and there's not many of those around our area. Her regular vet is booked until tomorrow. My check goes in the bank at midnight and I'm probably taking her to the emergency vet then. They need cash up front or I'd take her right now. don't think she can wait any longer.

Ooooh, my heart is aching for you. I sat here at the edge of my seat reading your post and I am so, so sorry that Mudd is so uncomfortable and so ill. It's the most difficult thing to have to make "that" decision, but I always know deep down that it's the best gift we can give them when that time comes. :(
I am praying for Mudd to get fixed up by the vet and I am praying that you have strength through this whole thing. My heart just goes out to you. Mudd is so cute. :)
By the way, in a case like this, there is no way that your vet can see Mudd today? Makes no sense to me.

Try calling your vet/clinic and push the issue. Explain she is in pain and it is not acceptable. They should be respectful of an animal in pain and take care of her. Let them know you feel it is so critical it might be her time and she deserves peace and comfort. I know while we were away and Loki fell ill the sitter brought him in and they said that we could pay upon coming back from vacation and that was the first thing we did yesterday. Please give it a try you will feel better knowing you tried everything possible.

I begged and pleaded this morning to let me bring her in, but they said they were totally booked as today is their surgery day. They referred me to the emergency vet clinic, but they require payment up front and my check goes in at midnight. I'll be taking her in late tonight as soon as Chris gets home from work after the bank is closed. She's now vomiting and it has old blood in it, so she definitely can't wait until tomorrow.

The vet worked her in for an emergency appt and diagnosed her with pyometra. The vet suspects the bacteria from the uti somehow got into her girly parts, probably from her licking. The antibiotics kept it at bay until now, but just weren't enough to cure it. She's having surgery at 9AM, and hopefully will make a full recovery. The vet is tentatively optimistic about her prognosis.

I'm kicking myself for not spaying her sooner. I've never before had a pet that wasn't fixed, and I have no idea what possessed me to not do it with her. I regret that decision wholeheartedly bc it almost killed her, and possibly still could. I'll never ever make that mistake again.

Oh please don't do that to yourself. You didn't know this could happen. You can't think that way.
I'm so glad Mudd went to the vet today and I pray that everything will go smoothly after surgery. I will have you and Mudd in my thoughts tomorrow until we hear back from you. BIG HUGS
