Prayers please... Tomorrow morning I take my baby girl Macie Mae to the vet for wellness check/ senior panel lab work. She is 13 1/2 yrs old and has been a warrior princess for the past 4 yrs. She was diagnosed CKD January 2021.

She was doing great ...until past week.

Ravenous appetite, I mean will eat 4 cans a day of Weruva Press your lunch, and wants food every 2 hours and cleans the bowl. she is twitchy, vocalizing more than normal bengal cat, peeing larger volumes, restless, and a bit incoordination on rear legs when she runs like a banchee zooming.

I really suspect a strong possibility of Hyperthyroidism.

will keep you updated. So hard with Tobylove heart, Boo renal tube cystatin B issues and enlarged liver, and now Macie Mae. They are all seniors and I am always nervous of the test results, powering through with love and care .

@nudebea , @Aryasmum , @Catzzzmeow thank you for the continued prayers for Boo, Tobylove, and now Macie Mae.

Macie Mae just got back from vet. she has lost weight, and being CKD and as vet said suspected hyperthyroidism, suggested blood pressure check since many cats with CKD and hyperthyroidism can also have high BP.

Her blood pressure was high , ranging several times consistent between 180-210.
Senior Panel blood work done, I always ask for no matter what age bcz also includes thyroid T4 test, urine and fecal.

blood test results back tomorrow. went home with the IDEXX urine kit with zorb litter and a pipette and tubes to place urine and fecal. Have 30 days to drop it off .

Macie Mae was a very good girl. the tech and vet I have known for years with my crew always get a smile out of Macie Mae's smiles spots on her front forelegs. she was very patient. the first BP reading was 300 yikes! with tech. (with 33 yrs experience) BP should be around 150.

the tech asked me to wait with Macie in the room so vet could check too. recheck 20 minutes later was the 180-210 readings.

Macie Mae was such a good girl. I like that my vet allows me to stay in the room with my babies while they draw blood, etc. they even let me help hold or pet during tests instead of stressing out taking to the backroom.

Keeping all paws crossed. I am worried about her CKD.. she was stage 2 4 yrs ago.

I use vetstix 11 urine test strips for years with my crew at home.
This morning I checked Macie Mae's urine. wear latex glove, gently push test strip into fresh pee ball wet. I got no diabetes (no glucose) but...
High PH off the chart, and the lowest specific gravity reading. not good news.
will see what blood work indicates. the test strips have always been close to my crews blood work. we will see.

I take deep breaths and power on with my babies, doing the best I can at the end of the day. every moment a gift.

please , chime in if you have experience with hyperthyroidism and CKD.
my vet already said the hypo meds come in liquid., pill, hard to split, or transdermal (which she did awfu with in the past with mirataz I had to stop using it, rash, lost hair on ear

@nudebea , @Aryasmum , @Catzzzmeow and all : Macie Mae update :(

My vet called me tonight after hours with test results.

She is Not hyperthyroidism. Her CKD is at stage 3 now after 4 yrs when she was diagnosed at stage 2.
she does have hypertension, ordering meds. , also has high BUN and Creatinine levels. she is down to 6.4 lbs.

the worst part: :(

Macie Mae, as many bengal cats can be prone to more than other breeds, Lymphoma/ IBD. :(
ordering Budesonide rx steroid to help with IBD.

My heart is shattered.

her blood sugar also low at 72 which is also indicative of lymphoma. I am not doing chemo .
she will be 14 May 4th.

she has no idea what reports say. Powering on together with my sweet baby girl Macie Mae, Tobylove, and Boo. lots of deep breaths.

oh my heart is breaking for you. comforting hugs to you and Macie Mae. I agree with not doing chemo at her age. Just take one day at a time and shower her with love. You have so much going on with your crew. Hugs and gentle pats to all.

@Letitia , besides chemo (my Macie Mae bengal girl is going to be 14) were there any specific meds you recall for gastric lymphoma? other supplements, etc?
Poor little Macie Mae. I'm so sorry about her diagnosis. Both my older Abby and my young-ish Sphynx were on prednisolone in conjunction with their chemo. We also gave my little old man b-12. No meds other than that until we got towards the end.

Hoping for you and Macie May to have many, many more days of loving each other.

Macie Mae and I powering thru. she still has the feet going every what way when I pick her up for pill time. she is getting better with pilling, but dang, gotta watch those back fee claws. got me today on my forearm.

at least she has lots of spunk! she is still eating good and not screaming every 1/2 hour for food, not vomiting as much.so the pills must be helping her tummy . she has no idea of what reports say about lymphoma and we power on, just wish I could get some weight on her but I know it's hard with ll that she has going on inside. every day a gift.

Lol, she is a hoot, right on time at 6 am she starts meowing and playing with Boo and Gunnar pups.

@tontiangel , awh, hugs n head smooches. thank you. I took her to the vet for followup. she gained .42 lbs, I will take it. she is still like pilling a badger, hey at least she has spunk. her blood pressure still high, so vet increased amlopine to 1/2 pill per day. the budensonide helping her tummy . she is not throwing up as much. the blood work etc, indicates lymphoma, but I did not tell her. she is my strong baby girl!

My last kitty was 15+ when I got him and he was living with undiagnosed/untreated hyperthyroidism until then. Luckily this just required one medication. Before the meds he was ravenously hungry as if we were starving him and all he did was cry and did into the cabinets. He was very old so he never gained any weight back BUT the crying and begging stopped all thanks for a medication (crushed up into wet food). Best of luck! Prayers!
