My heart just breaks for you. I know you do all you can and will give him the best life possible and I know you will make that hard decision if it has to come to that because your heart is pure . Hugs and smooches.
I know for certain you are doing everything possible for him. Let quality of life be your guide. I wish there was more I could do but you can reach out if you need me.
Thinking of you and your beautiful furbabies and nonfurbabies. Sending pawsitive thoughts and vibes your way. I wish these guys could talk at times and let us know what's going on. You're an amazing mom to your kids, you will always make the right decision for them I know you will. After the conversations we have had, I know how you are and you always go to the ends of the earth for your furkids. Hang in there, hun. Please know that if you need to talk, I am just a phone call away. Hugs!
I'm sorry you and Sam are going through this. We all know how much you love him and how much you've done for him. He's your baby and you know him best so no judgement at all on any decisions you make for him. My crew and I are all rooting for a miraculous recovery. Xx
(((((((hugs)))))))) thank you all more than you know, by myself here and my mom doesn't understand. think she is disappointed I did not take her to sams club today bcz I was waiting for vet to call back. my heart hurts and my eyes get teary when I look at him and know something is off. I am praying it is a reaction to the antibiotics.
@Toa and Ross and all. thank you. went to vet, he was an angel with everyone. got blood work done. urine still dark with bacteria and white blood cells. . tried to do an ultrasound cystiocentesis for a urine culture to be sent out to identify specifics and what meds would help. but his bladder was empty. have to bring him back at 3:15 today. brutal hot out and hate waiting out in the car. still drop offs wait outside they said for at least another month here in FL
waiting for vet call back with blood test results. urine culture test successful yesterday afternoon when I took him back. they said he is such a good boy, carried his duck toy in making everyone laugh. I had to wait in car, parked in shade. took water and dog bowl with me too. always do for the pups.
vet withholding antibiotics until culture back 3-5 business days . ugh... that would mean next wed to friday! all paws crossed he does not start peeing more obvious blood over the weekend.
still hard time getting him to eat. . wonder if this guy is just no good with antibiotics. ugh.
3 brands and all reactions to.
will be interesting what meds the culture results recommends next week
will update with his blood work results later today/tonight. all paws crossed
@Yoda mom I only ever dealt with one UTI but it was enough. My poor cat needed 3 or 4 different antibiotics before it was finally cleared. It was exactly like you said.....if the meds didn't work you'd find out because they start peeing everywhere. But the good thing is eventually they do figure it out.
That was my cat that had cancer and kidney disease too. The say medicine is a science but I say it's an art. I told them at the animal hospital instead of me paying them, they should pay me for educating themselves on my cat. 99% serious about that.
vet called, blood work looked pretty good. kidney values good. waiting for them to email me a copy.
got him to eat a 2 cups of kibble (Gunnar's not his own). still mopey. may pick up a b12 shot on monday. was ready to buy the whole bottle like I did with my moms cat for appetite stimulant.
@Condo commando , don't you know it! feel the same here! with my diabetic dog pup too I am managing on my own. lol vet called today, asked me if I would be comfortable giving Sam 3cc's of vitamin B12 injection ,if I am okay with injections! DUH, february she diagnosed his littermate rottie with Diabetes! she must have a a long day! I test feed inject him insulin 2x a day
thanks, got him 2 eat 2 cups of kibble., Gunnars health extension kibble. slow like a grazing cow but got it down. he has never been a fast eater and has horrible allergies. he would not eat his regular kibble. guess someone else's tastes better. still a bit mopey. all paws crossed for the urine culture results. keep the prayers and thoughts coming! working! thanks!
Oh no, poor Sam!! Fingers crossed he is feeling better soon. Good to see he is eating some. Hopefully the urine culture results are back soon. Some abx medications are tough on pets bellies and trying to find the right one to treat the infection can be difficult.
