It's so important to get the word out there, but in the right places. Search the net and write up your reviews on all sites. Is this cattery registered with TICA or CFA? make a complaint to them. Even if you can stop one person from using this cattery, it's worth it.I am so glad to hear that Beetlejuice is doing well. It is so unfortunate that the response we had gotten from this breeder was so poor. It would be wonderful if all breeders conducted their business with integrity and honest practice, unfortunately there are a a few breeders that do not hold up to good practices in this profession. There is more to my story in reference to the communication with Donna concerning the Kittens I had purchased from her. We have another Cat besides Stella from this Cattery that has had some very odd health issues that are out of the ordinary. We actually have to now put funds away and budget in veterinary fees. We love our Dottie and glad that her health is improving. After our loss of Stella, we could not bear to loose another. For the sake of these kittens and the integrity of this breed I wish there were more rules and guidelines to protect those breeders that do it right and weed out those who run improper breeding programs. I stated to Donna that these kittens are not potato chips, these are living creatures . I told her she had a responsibility to the health of her cats. I dare not repeat the response. I would urge those considering to adopt from this breeder to ask questions and educate yourself.
I am understanding that sicknesses are going to happen within catteries, but a breeder needs to acknowledge that there is a problem and take steps to correct it.
I'm sure it is a financial dump when your breeding cats have to be retired for genes or illness, but firstly, breeders should be in business for bettering the breed and secondly,a breeder should expect these things may happen and have a plan B just in case.
It's just sad. But it's partly the fault of the purchasers that this stuff goes on. If there are no buyer's, then there are no sellers.
Research, Research, Research where you are getting your kitten! Spread the word!
