Ugh, that’s so scary! This is why it’s so hard to let anyone into our home when we have young kittens. All it takes is one person to bring something in. I hope the new litter does great and you still get precious naked kitty to add to your family. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with keeping the name.

I think keeping the name Olympia is a lovely homage to Olympia--that way some joy will be associated with the name and I believe her spirit will lead you to the kitten that is right for you. So she can be a part of this also, and every time you say the name Olympia, you will be sending a love message to your sweet little Olympia in Heaven. We name our human children after people we have loved, and we do it to honor the original name holder--why not do the same for our feline babies? It doesn't mean you are replacing her with another cat--you are hoping little Olympia will share some of her sweet spirit with the new kit. And you are honoring the love you felt for her by sharing it with the new baby.

I am so sorry for your loss! I think using the name Olympia again for a female would be a good memorial for her. I always liked the name Odin/Oden for a boy.
