Sphynx cat names I thought would be cool!

I am very bad at picking out names. I worry that because she is 6 years old changing her name may confuse her?

She doesn't seem to care much when I call her Peaches or anything else... she seems to just respond when I talk to her I don't think she will be confused. I can call her Peaches or kitty or Stinky or anything else that comes out of my mouth and she just comes meowin'. I have tried to think of something that rhymes with Peaches and can't think of anything.

How about Gigi? It's a cute girlie name and it kinda sounds like "peaches".

I changed my boy Harold's name to Harold when I got him at age 6. He didn't respond at all to his name, which was Yoda. He immediately responded to Harold, though!

If you're at all worried about confusing her with a new name, all you have to do is call her by both names at first, for example, if you called her "Daisy", for a few weeks just call her "Daisy Peaches" until she makes the association and then you can drop the "Peaches" altogether. Honestly, though, all of mine respond to their nicknames as well as they respond to their real names and I never intended for that to happen. They figure it out!

I agree with the idea of calling her both names for a while and then dropping Peaches eventually. That makes sense.

Blue's name was Tazmanian when I got him. His mom's name was Glacier Blue. I never thought about it before but how confusing do you think it was for him to be called by his mom's name suddenly? I wouldn't want people at work to start calling me Marilyn after *my* mom. Ughhh. Now I feel bad. Have I traumatized him? That would explain a lot about his behavior!

Persephone , pronounced Pur sef on ee......Is regal, feminine and has a P and an S sound like Peaches.............you could call her peaches persephone for a while and then drop the peaches. Here is a wikipedia explanation of the name Persephone......it would be more fun and cat like to spell it PURRsephonee...lol

As ours was 7 1/2 when we got him we didn't change his name, which is Mug-Y, this was the name the breeder gave him and the previous owner stuck with it. It's from Mogwai, which is what Gizmo is in Gremlins! his full name is 'Allpurrnofur Mug-Y'!! Bless him!!

But in all honesty most of the time now he is just called Kitty or kittles or grumpy and answers to all of them!!

I decided on "Dobby" after the house elf on Harry Potter. He was bald and had no clothes... He ended giving up his life to save Harry in the last book so he was very loyal. That's how I choose my kitty's name. I like unusual names for animals. I had a friend once who had a dog called "Askhim" He got a big kick out of people saying "what's your dog's name?" and of course he would reply "Askhim" Some of the names my children came up for our kitten were Mr. Clean, Mr. Wigglesworth, Harry, Pirate (because our kitten had terrible eye problems) One Eyed Willy, Willy for short. I like Zoe if it is a female, Casper if he is white, Theo is a pretty noble name... I had a dog once named Theo. He lived to be 15 years old. He was a noble old soul. I was on a bunch of sites for Sphynx names before we brought our kitten home and some of the names were pretty silly...

Ceaser...it was supposed to be Cesium (35th element of the periodic table) but it didn't quite sound right at the time, so being a 19 year old Ceaser took (as in the adult beverage)

My next cat was Absolut (again, young adult...alcohol inspired names)
and last (but definately not least)

Named our American Bull Dog / Pitt mixx "Vegas"...since we adopted her from the Vegas SPCA and her little buddy JRT was Fritz. Also had a mutt named Mischa Coola Soppy which supposedly means Little Bear with crooked legs in Russian (again the spelling isn't right)

We rescued a Siberian Samoyed cross and her name was Shima...her and Misha had pups and we kept 2 of them so we named them Shooma and Mooscha...
SO we had Mischa, Mooscha, Shima, Shooma now that was a mouthful!

Caillou is a great name for a bald kitty. Children's literature can be a perfect place to find names. I am quite fond of Toot and Puddle, and Knuffle Bunny.
