If I ever get a chance to come back as a cat.....I want to be one of your sphynx cats Susi :Adore:

Wow, thanks, C0urtney! I worry sometimes that maybe my cats aren't lucky at all.....they live in an old house with too much stuff in it. They don't have fancy things like fireplaces or rooms of their own, and they have to share what they do have. Our house is sometimes a real mess, I can't take them for walks or rides to anywhere but the vet......they don't have lots of clothes or designer anything. The only thing they do have is my heart and each other. I don't think they lack for much that they really need, but we live a very simple life, and was surprised to hear you say such a kind thing. Thanks! I'd rather come back as one of your cats. I'd never leave that fireplace either.....Emma and I would be sharing firelight. LOL

Your Cats are very Lucky and couldnt have a better Home, because of the Love you give them!! You love them to pieces! Dont think a fireplace would give them more love.
And your Stories are never boring , I love Yours and every ones story about each Cat!

And I also say that to every Sphynxperson on here, each care so much for their little Munchkins!! Just the other Day, my friend stopped by and she made a pic of my Hairy and posted it on her FB and her cousin commented, what an uggly creature this is. I just said, "its a sphynx and it takes a diff kind of person to love them so much" ( what i wanted to say is .. your kids are uggly too, but i didnt i held back ! ) . And i say this ..... a sphynx owner is the Greatest Person ever ... ( the ones i know from here anyways ) and they are diff and far better then other peeps :)

Susi, our babies love us unconditionally. They don't say things like:
"I wish I had designer clothes."
"I wish I could go for walks and car rides other than to the vet."
"I don't like you for your old house and all this stuff around. I wish everything was new and modern."

Susi, you gave them your heart and sole. That's all they want, plus some food.

The amount of love that goes on in your house would be the number one reason I would love to be your cat! You love you babies with all your heart and would do anything in the world for them. In turn, they love you and eachother more than anything in the world :Adore:

Gosh, so many beautiful baby pics and stories! I cherish hearing them all. Glad I posted this thread. I knew there had to be others here that experienced that, 'fall in love' moment with their Sphynx. Thank you all so very much for sharing, and can't wait to see more!

Where's the "love" button, Admin? Hitting "like" isn't enough sometimes!

The first picture is from last July that Susi sent me to enter Nipsey in the 4th of July contest. Just look at that face. I laughed so hard because the look on his face explains his personality to a tee. And look at those big ears pushed back as if he's saying "I'm not impressed"

The second picture is another one of my favorites also from Susi. Look at his little Whisker pads...The white on his whisker pads gahhh love them! So kissable!!

No wonder Susi had a hard time giving him up :) so nice you stay in touch with her and we all get to enjoy him and those wonderful ears!!!!!

The first picture I ever saw of Graddy. I dreamed about him for almost two months every night after seeing it

grady 3.jpg

The first day Hugo came home. When he didn't quite know what was going on and that he had to leave his original home so fast. He came in and took charge and completely stole my heart with his ease

Hugo 029.jpg

This was ten minutes after they met. They hissed twice and then started kissing and playing. (although Graddy did bully Hugo a lot in those first ten minutes. Hugo has been paying him back ever since )

Susi, all that stuff is materiallistic, you have the greatest to offer and that
is your love. A forever home and you take very good care of them.
This is what matters.

I understand how you feel, Susi, because I feel the same. My cats don't have many of the luxuries that other Sphynx have... like a house for starters. All we have is our 3 bedroom apartment. What we have to realize is that if our babies don't have particular things... those things don't exist to them. The problem is, we love them so much that we want the best for them as far as material items. It hurts us to know that we can't provide every possible luxury for them. But they don't know that, and they still love us unconditionally for who we are and for the love we show them day in and day out. Hmm, in writing this.. I think I just came up with a new saying:

A cat can have a ball with a piece of string without having the whole ball of string.

That just made me feel better. I hope it makes you feel better too, sweetie.

Love n' hugs,
Sharon

Well said, Sharon! I think my kids are happy enough. They surely know they are loved. But I wish I could build them a playroom and am working on getting an estimate for a catio for them. It would be so much easier to not have litterboxes in my dining room and foyer. To actually reclaim my own living space, ya know? I don't want them to be locked up in the room, but free to come and go as they please and a place where all their stuff could go. And a place that Boo could really enjoy when the girls are in heat. The living arrangements have been weighing heavy on my mind of late, so I was most likely feeling sorry for myself that I can't afford to live in a nice house with lots of room. Or have a screened in porch or anything else that would make our lives easier. I have rooms upstairs I could clear out, but would still have to leave the litterboxes downstairs as I can't carry the dirty litter down the steps anymore. I am going to have to do some major cleaning and thinking how to repurpose the area I do have so we can live smarter and cleaner than we do now. I can't keep my dining room or living room floors clean AT ALL and am really frustrated about it. I could make the laundry room a litterbox room, but I use it as a large walk in closet at the moment and don't want my clothes to smell like a litterbox......I have worried about it for months. I HAVE to do something different--just don't know what as of this point. Time will tell, I guess.

I understand your dilemma. Well, just make this your project of the year, I guess. Chip away at it a little bit at a time. Working on it slowly is better than not working on it at all. My apartment is a bit cluttered too. Well, I should say my office, because its not just my office. Its also the room where I store all my pet supplies, survival supplies and hobby stuff. I try to rearrange it every now and then, but its still packed in this room. The rest of the apartment is fine, but still.. I have to spend many hours in this room every day, so it bugs me to no end.

I wish I could have a catio for my cats, but no way on a 2nd floor apartment to do something like that. Good luck to you on that project. I hope it happens for you and your gang.

OK I had to get in on this....

Danser was in a kitty mill from when she was a kit from her breeders till 10 months old...
She looked like this when she got out and was in sphynx rehab at a breeders in Florida...

She had to stay there for about 2 months until she was healthy enough to come to
Michigan.
This was the day before she was shipped to me...

Here is Loki on his Petfinder ad...
I just knew he was for me...
It is so funny to see how much hair he had. I loved his fur leg warmers. Peterbalds get balder with age.

This is one of the first pics of Merlin ever at 2 weeks old. It is one of the ones we picked him out from...

I am very lucky to have baby pics of him every few weeks up until we got him around 12 weeks old. He is a thermal so is much darker now.

I got all sentimental looking through all the old pictures of my kits... I love seeing everyone's pics. It shows how much LIFE we have shared with our kits.

This is the saddest picture I own.....but when I look into those little sick eyes and remember how much Candy Cane loved me.....how hard she fought to have a life with me....
you can't possibly understand how deeply it moves me.

Brings me to tears every time.

To go from that to this:

I pray that she is happy here....that her hard fight was worth it. I will always adore this little girl of mine. My precious little girl who brings me such joy. My Candy Cane!

That first pic is very moving... Poor baby!
She is such a beautiful girl, and such a credit to you!

That is the picture that displays exactly how Miss Elvira got her name. She looked like a small, angry, vampire bat!!!

That is princess puss-puss after we had her home for three days.

That is Morticia with her brothers, before she got to come home!

Thats Tish telling Elvy to squish over!

Ohhhh...what a sweet post. I do not have the first picture of Babas that I got saved on my iPad, I have it printed at home. But it was a picture of him sprawled out on the carpet with his little bits hanging out for all to see. He was next to his brother and we got to choose between the 2 of them. His brother was blue and white and I thought that was the color combo I always wanted, but there was something about that picture of him just hanging out and he was so ugly he was cute. That was IT he was ours from that minute on.

But I have several pics where Babas has his soulful eyes and looking at me as only he can that I adore and melt every time...like this one

Gulp.

Got home early this morning and had to dig out the first 2 pics of Babas I had mentioned in the post. Here are pictures of the pictures I had printed 10 years ago that is why they look a bit scratched.

Awwww, Patti! Look at his beautiful eyes and that sweet little face!
Danser, Merlin and Loki and Nanu and Elivra and Tishy--they are all just gorgeous. I love this thread...makes me cry over and over again.
Do you guys realize how blessed we are? We get to share out lives with these loving little things.

Gulp...yes I do realize and that is why so many of us get teary eyed so often on here. Losing leeloo last year really was an eye opener for me in so many ways. I had Babas (who has stuck to me like glue all day) on my lap today and I took his little face and kissed him for the OMG 20th time since we got home and got teary knowing my time with him is never going to be long enough. My life changed with him coming into my heart. I was in Newport ,RI on business when I got those pics sent to me. I also know these amazing babies have made we strangers into friends forever ...how magical is that?

I know. There is a a purring bony bundle (Loki) on my lap and I just think how blessed we all are to have them in our lives. Whether our homes be humble or eccentric all they care about is that we are there.

[CENTER I simply fell in love with his face and was wondering if any of you have that one pic of your babies that simply melts your heart every single time.
[/CENTER]

It's not easy choosing a single photo that made me melt when I saw my boys for the first time. Many of the intial photos that made me melt weren't even face shots. Just seeing them at two days old (from the breeder) as they were nursing made me melt. LOL So I'll try my best to show you other early photos of them that made me turn to mush.

Liam when I first picked him up from the breeder as he settled down for the night in the hotel before his flight home early the next a.m. to go home to NY.

Liam...within a few days of bringing him home.

Grayson when I picked him up from the breeder and came back to the hotel room.

Grayson within a few days of of bringing him home.

Simon being silly.

Simon napping in the family room while sucking his thumb.

Love these three boys to death.

Ooops, one of the photos of Grayson wearing a turquoise shirt with his blanky over him...isn't Grayson. I just realized that it's Liam. Sorry. I'll post again with Grayson's photo.
