Hi everyone!
I'm brand new to sphynxes and I'm a little out of my depth. Would you be willing to share your general experiences with upper respiratory infections, how long they took to clear up, how they progressed, etc?
Our little one just turned 5 months and got her 3rd set of vaccinations August 23rd. Starting around 4 days ago now she started getting watery eyes with a small amount of white discharge. Today she has started being a little snorty with the occasional cough or sneeze and is more tired (usually she runs around like a mini-horse every few hours and needs a good hour + of playing). Her eyes are still watery and the colour is a very light green now but there is no redness, squinting, or rubbing. Her appetite is still about the same and she's going to the bathroom normally. The vet said that unless there are any red flags (lethargy, vomiting, loss of appetite, etc) then just to monitor her. I do have an appointment booked for the 13th that will be either a sick visit or her rabies vaccine but could you share some stories/advice in the meantime? I listened to her lung (I didn't want to move her so I could hear the other one cause she was so comfy) and she doesn't seem to be working any harder to breathe but my lack of experience is giving me some anxiety. I know that she isn't showing any signs of immediate concern and that it's just a cold, but I've only had childhood cats that have either gone their entire lives not getting sick or have been going into full organ failure or getting massive infections every few years until they passed away. My brain is automatically jumping to extremes so I could use some level heads.
Thank you!
