@SphynxKid you were kicked out of high school? No way! I remember the good old computer days. I was in grade school when they first came out. My son is a computer nerd, the police came for him when he was 9 for hacking into peoples accounts online.
Twice! Once as a junior for fist fighting, and beating up a girl in gym class. And then the next year, I got kicked out of the private school I got put into for fighting for not going/ truancy, apparently they had a strict attendance policy lol. It was a Catholic school and the Brother/principle kicked me out. He called and said if I wasn't back Monday, to not bother to return...oops, I forgot to go back on Monday! My dad came home mid morning and found me sitting in the couch. He just shook his head and laughed. He signed me up for a few college classes later that week and I had a tutor home school me for my last high school class which allowed me to graduate with the public HS system. And I turned out...well...relatively fine!

I have many word 'issues' - most of which are related to the internet and texting, such as lettter abbreviations for actual words (u for you, etc.) and some of the new slang (cray-cray and whatevs) ... it drives me up the wall because it just seems lazy to me. That being said, I'm surrounded by it and will on occasion use it to make a point.

But ... I must confess one thing - Lolcat speak makes me, well, LOL. And sometimes, it's fun to see just how much you can massacre a sentence and still understand it.

@pashtcat you make total sense. I do not picture my cats speaking differently than english, but I follow every word of other's cats speaking it...lol.

LOLcat speech is an acquired taste ... think of a bunch of poorly educated third graders talking to one another. Bad grammar and spelling abound! I also have a bad habit of making up voices for my cats and talking for them; I imagine that they call us 'giant hairless cats' or 'giant Puddin's' - :) I guess I have no life! LOL.

Aside from the normal asinine, accurately stereotypical Southern gems like "y'all" and "ain't", which I loathe, "irregardless" drives me positively bonkers, the word "armpit" makes me cringe (axilla sounds much nicer anyway), and I DETEST the word "yonder". Oh my goat I just want to stab someone in the kneecaps when they say yonder!

This whole post made me giggle. I have never heard "oh my goat" before. And I now officially adopt "stab someone in the kneecaps" as my own, to use as necessary.

I get stabby when people say "supposebly". It's a D! Not a B!!! SupposeDly!

By all means, please use it and enjoy! I find it quite amusing to say and it tends to curb my rage enough to keep the kneecap stabbing from becoming a reality...

@susi794 "Seen" without the helper verb drives me bonkers, too!!!
Pete's one friend was telling a story and he said "I seen..." and I said "You either saw or had seen" automatically. His friend stared at me like I was a Martian until Pete said "Oh, right. 'Rome, my wife was an English major in college. Don't speak Ebonics in front of her or she will correct you."

I hate the ghetto abbreviation text. I can understand some mistakes. And I can even be "ok" with a few abbreviations ;) But to blatantly go out of your way to screw up the English language drives me absolutely insane unless were talking about the "Kitty talk" it's acceptable.

I'm with all of you on that! My friend Eric's mom was a teacher and is pretty much an additional mom to me. She will still correct both Eric, his father and me if we use some word incorrectly. One of the things she has instilled in use is the correct use of the "ly", which I now tend to correct people about all of the time. It will actually make me shutter to hear someone say "Drive safe" or "Can you do that more quiet?". I have to add the "-ly" for them. Safely, quietly.

Nobody mentioned "had went" or "can I" instead of "may I." How about the waaaay overuse of "like" and "knowwhatImean?" A
Also agree on this! Please, whatever you do, do NOT have a conversation with my sister. The amount of words in between "sooo, like and you know what I mean" May be few and far between. Very few. I often get lost in her conversation and have her speed it up because I have no idea what the actual story is, there are so many filler words!
