I had a dream last night that my kittens had HAIR!!!!!

That got me thinking OMG what if my kittens have HAIR:Surprise:!!!!
Think about it...The only male that pile of sh** breeder had was a Sphynx and they never let the cats outside, but they also had kids and what if one of the kids did? I know it's far off but it could have happened. Most likely not but still one more thing to worry about. The breeder still swears she was never in heat( ya right). If my kittens come out with hair that "breeder" had better run b/c I'm going to kick her a$$. Will you guys take up a fund to pay my bail..lol..

Would they all have hair if a "haired" cat was the dad?

OH I NEED A DRINK!!!!(and i dont drink).

If by any chance she mated with a domestic cat, they would all have hair.

Also a litter can technically have more than one father if she mated with more than one boy.

If the breeder only had one boy the chances are tiny that she got out and bred, I mean she sounds like a topclass breeder (sarcasm) so she wouldn't risk her $$$$ getting outside and being ruined.

Oh I would still love them(and keep them:BigSmile:) The thought had had just not entered my mind. I have homes for them(well 4 of them, not knowing how many she will have) and I'm not sure if people would still want them with hair? I'm not charging anything for the kittens so if they dont like hair to bad for them I guess. I'm sure they are Sphynx tho she had that place locked up like fort knox so it would be very hard for her to get out and she hates the outside she wont even go by the open door.

Remember to get them spayed/ neutered before they go to their new homes and don't let them go until they are at least 12 weeks old. 12weeks old minimum, but sometimes a kitten needs longer and so 14-16 weeks is a good age, so they have maximum socialization and their mom can teach them manners.

Sadly that is true..She had signs every place "DON'T LET MY CATS OUTSIDE" screens on all the windows (the slider door has bars!!:Dizzy:). I was just shocked by the thought. When your expecting naked kittens and they pop out with long hair it would be a shock..And lets be honest I have NO CLUE who the dad is..

I can't remember if you said originally, but is the Sire to the litter her own father?

I've just got a girl, she'll be 1yr old in April and she arrived pregnant. At least I know her history and she's a good size so hopefully we won't have any problems. The scan said 3 kittens, but she wouldn't keep still to scan properly. So now its a waiting game, not knowing exact dates etc.

No, 10weeks is still too young, so wait til they are at least 12weeks old. At 10 weeks they are still learning how to play nicely, still getting a little milk from their mother (if she's still letting them) and their immune systems aren't strong enough yet.

How's she doing today?

The not knowing the dates had been the hardest part for me.

Yes, I do think her sire is the father to the kittens. He was the only male she had, there was a different male Sphynx there when I picked her up that was her mothers cat. So it could be that there is 2 fathers. I really have no clue and the "breeder" is no help at all.

She is doing Great today still fat and happy!!!

I'm not too knowledgeable about inbreeding, but it's not ideal as it doubles up the potential for inherited health problems, if you don't know what your doing (and the breeder letting them mate with whoever/ whenever obviously doesn't know what she's doing either.)

I still say Sunday/ Monday

Thats what my vet said "not ideal, but they would not come out with 3 tails and 2 heads"..lol..

That's why I'm not charging for them. I have been honest with all the people that want them. They could have health issues later in life.
I have had so many people tell me how lucky I am that I can make some money . I had one lady tell me I was an fool for not making a profit off of this. I just cant lie to people, I know how I would feel if someone did that to me.

EDIT:: I am making them pay for the altering and the shots..

$$$ is all some people see.

I will say this though.. you should charge a little, whether its to help cover the vets fee's ( which start adding up when you have a litter) or maybe even get a donation off the new family for your local animal shelter etc.

At least make a paper for your friends....saying that if they ever have/want to rehome their sphynx....that they have to contact you...or that you will take them back....and let them sign that...
I have seen friendships end....and i'm sure you don't want your baby to end up...god knows where....
It's just a tip

Good for you. They deserve full disclosure...

Just so you know, the risks of inbreeding and health, my first sphynx Harold was the product of an accidental breeding. His mother and father were half brother/sister. The father had HCM and both parents shared the same father (Classytouch Signature Series, a famous HCM+ cat). The fact that Harold was inbred doubled his chance of developing HCM. There was a litter of 3 kittens and 2 of the 3 died from HCM by age 6.

Hoping there's no HCM in any of the lines here so you won't have to worry about that, but if there are any health problems, the fact that the kittens are inbred might increase problems for them down the road. There's just no way to know.

I did think of that.If they ever have to rehome them they must come back to me. I will have to make up a contract for my babies:ThumbsUp:.

She's my "nut job" lady next door.

 I'm glad I'm not the only one with one of those!!!

Good for you on giving them the best, they deserve it...I dug my contract out and that states that I must have pet insurance...might be a good thing to add to yours if there's a chance of heredity health problems...

In normal cases I would disagree because pet insurances isn't worth it in many cases...but this isn't a bad idea at all. Especially since many insurance companies refuse to insure a pet with pre-existing problems. Best to start young. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst...
