Frida hurt

Hi everyone Frida and I are at the emergency vet. A fry pan fell on her foot and I think it is broken. I'm in a bit of a panic and can't remember what medication to watch out for.

Oh no poor Frida and poor you! You must be so worried. Hope Frida will be okay.

If she needs to be operated pease tell them not to use kentamine.

I know there are some meds that doesn't work very well with sphynx but don't know there names. I think @Catzzzmeow knows this.

Thanks everyone. It has been a bit of a wait. Someone came in with a dog which was hit by a car at the same time. They are taking her vitals now. Her paw is very swollen but she seems alert and responsive. I'll keep you updated as I go.

So Frida has definitely fractured her paw. There are 3 broken bones which the doctor is setting right now. She will have to restrict movement and her foot will have a split for the next 6weeks. Then I think we go back for X-rays to make sure that everything is healed properly. Luckily there is no surgical intervention required.

Very good that its only minor I'm sure she will make a very speedy recovery and be back to her old self very soon but non the less healing wishes sent your way!

My poor baby. We just got home from the vet and Frida is settled with lots of blankets and a bowl of water on the bathroom floor. She is really drugged up which is hard to watch. I think that she is still in pain too. I know she is going to be ok but this part is really hard. I have all kinds of pain medicine to give her and I will probably have to have a number of visits to check how her paw is healing. My poor darling.

Thanks these things are always easier to look up when one is not worried. Luckily they did not have to do surgery and I have high hopes that her foot will heal well. She did have some surface damage on her foot as well but the vet seems confident that this will heal without antibiotics. I will have her splint changed next week and they can assess that then. I just checked on her and she seems more comfortable now than when we got home. I don't think she likes how the medication made her feel. I think the pain medication they gave me for home won't do that the same way as what was given to set the foot.

She will be fine...you watch. Azura either sprained or broke a toe the first week we got her by being crazy and falling off the cat tree.We were given pain meds and they said to put her in a room or cage to limit her ability to jump because she was a crazy kitten. These guys heal fast. Happy healing vibes are sent her way.

Also , what type of litter box ? hopefully not top entry .. Does she need a shallow litter box one while she heals like a large under bed storage tote so she can maneuver with a splint?

Glad to hear she didn't need surgery. Although it's already sad and painful enough for Frida. Hope she recovers quick. You're a fantastic mommy so she will get the best care there is!

@Yoda mom thanks for the well wishes. I have been having some trouble with the litter box. It is not a top entry but it does have fairly tall sides. I put a shallow tray for her on the floor with her litter but I can't seem to convince her that this is an appropriate place to relieve herself... I had to hold the box steady and help her get in this morning. I may just cut the entrance lower on her box. I want her to feel happy where she pees.

@Xandria head bonks and hugs to you and max too. Thanks for the offer and I will let you know. I do think she will be just fine. Now that she isn't super drugged anymore she seems happier. She is still pretty sleepy but the medication last night made her very uncoordinated and she was not happy about it, but she was up around 6am bright and hungry. She was obviously in pain but seems to be better now that she has had her first dose of pain medication (they told me to wait until 8am to give it to her). This one makes her groggy but she still has all her faculties. Luckily I don't have to be anywhere important until Monday so I will be able to keep a close eye on her.

Pain meds really do wreak havoc on coordination. I'm at the home/office most of today without formal appointments. Friday night I'm around, Saturday during the day, and Sunday night. HUGS.

With her being medicated and inactive you want to keep her as toasty as possible and keep a close eye on her. Then go have a glass of wine and maybe cuddle together for a long nap. Thank you she can be a handful. This is the same paw which she once stuck in a rat cage and sliced three of her paw pads open. She just can't help herself. Yes, I have been very careful to keep her warm. I now have her in my bedroom. She has her heat pad on low and lots of blankets. I was more worried last night because she couldn't move so much on her own (I was up every hour to check on her), but now she can get up and move so I'm not as worried about wether or not she is too cold or if the heat pad is too hot.

Here she is all cozy and nice. Right now she seems content to stay on the floor. Hopefully she won't be jumping around too much in the coming days.

How about a box if you have a spare one that is about the same size as her litter box you can line the bottom with a trash bag or aluminum foil and put litter in and u can cut the front out however you want then u won't have to cut on her regular litter box?
