I'm so sorry to hear about Frida! My DLH boy, Kermit the Terrible, was hit by a car when he was 12 years old and dislocated his knee. The surgery to fix it was around $5000.00, and they weren't too sure that he would ever be able to bend it again, even with the surgery. So we decided to splint it. I had to take him back every week to change the splint for about 8 weeks. His knee healed straight, which meant that every time he sat or lay down, his leg was straight out in front of him. I'm really going to date myself here, but his nickname rapidly became Chester, for the sidekick in the 1960s "Gunsmoke" TV show, who had a straight leg also. Kermit lived for 7 more years with his leg like that-running, jumping and just being a cat.
Frida is a tough little thing, and I am sure that she will be thumping around in her splint within a couple of days. Take care of yourself, Naomi, because you will be chasing her all over, trying to keep her from climbing and jumping soon enough. And, @Xandria, @Catzzzmeow is right--Maxie better not dance with her for a while.

Hang in there Frida, and demand lots of treats for all of your trouble!

Hey there, girl. How long does Frida need to wear the cone? I have one of those neck donuts if you want to borrow it. Happy to drop it off this afternoon. Let me know.
@Xandria she wears the cone until the splint comes off, that is 4-6weeks! I would love to borrow the donut.

How is Frida today?
She is doing good. she had a great appetite this morning and was acting more like herself. I can tell that her paw really hurts but the medication helps her. She slept most of today which is good I think. Honestly I did too. She hurt her paw at 9pm yesterday and we were at the ER from 9:30-1:30am. By the time we were home and settled it was 2:30am so neither of us had a good rest last night. We made up for it today though!

I'm sure you both were wore out. Glad she's having a better day.
Hope the meds keep her comfortable until she's healed up.

Frida says thank you to @Xandria for the lending of the donut cone. She already looks way more comfortable.

Xandria also brought me some goodies including some homemade chilli!
I feel so taken care of!

Also for those who are interested I am very excited to say that Frida has had a bowel movement! Yay! She was peeing regularly before but this is her first BM since coming home. She still has a great appetite since coming home and I have been giving her an extra half meal per day. With all the extra food and sleep she should heal up just fine right?

Thanks for the visit Xan it really lifted my spirits. As has all the lovey support of everyone on the lair.

She will definitely heal up with all of your extra coddling! Be careful that she doesn't get too chubby with the food! She is looking good with her splint and she rocks the collar. I'm glad everybody is settling in for the duration. Keep up the good work!

Haha she is like the child with the hand in the cookie jar or a finger in the pie. She just needs to put it places. She can't help herself.
Thanks for the well wishes.

HUGS and KISSES!

So glad that Frida finally had her BM. And she looks good in the collar. :)

I just looked at my schedule, and if you want, I could babysit Frida and Watson on Monday from about noon onward. Seriously. Let me know. Also, if it's okay with you, I wouldn't mind popping in on Sunday night so see how you're all doing. xoxoox

Yes feel free to pop in! That would be lovely. I think I'm covered for Monday as my mom has offered to pop in and check on Frida as often as she can, but I'll let you know if anything changes. It is very kind of you to offer. Xoxoxo
