Update !!!!

we just brought Hansel home. He is bandaged up paw and leg and all up to his , I think you would call that a Cat armpit. He got a Cone of shame too, but she said if we supervise him, he does not have to put the Cone on.
He keeps shaking his leg.

He is not allowed to take the bandage off under any circumstances till Monday or Tuesday till we have a check up and she will rebandage it then. If he does, he can bleed to death, ( i guess because he would mess with it then ) , or loose his leg.
They had to do a lot more re graphting on his leg as they thought. They also had to cut a lot more she said. She said, 50 tiny stitches are in his leg. She showed us on paper how she re graphted it. She said, one small portion he will have Hair growing the wrong way, because thats how they kinda layerd the Skin around and turned it down wards so he can heal properly . She said in 10 days it should all be nicely healed up if he leaves it alone.
We do have pain meds and antibiotics for him.
Oh and she also said, he did not do well with his anesthesia , we have to if something comes up, look for diff options. His Bloodpressure was dropping she said and his heart rate went low and she did not like that.

right now he is laying there and I think he is a bit high. I hope he sleeps a lot ! 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg
thank You everyone for your thoughts and prayers . I hope he heals quick and the Cancer does not come back.

Poor boy, been a hard day for him. Praying he heals fast and that the nasty cancer is gone for good. It must have been scary to hear that he had a rough time with the anesthesia.

I hope he leaves his paw alone and can avoid the cone! He looks sleepy, so I hope the both of you can rest well tonight. 50 stitches is a lot! At least she was able to graft it over and sounds like she got it all. I hope he continues to do well.

him laying by the Heater this morning and then i sat on the couch and first Hansel laid on my Lap and then Rooka and Hairy laid around him.
I did have to put the Cone of shame on him now , he was not leaving his bandage alone and biting really Deep into it and ripping on it. So Cone head it is. He is pouting right now under the blanket on the heating pad.

Assi, I'm so glad he's home and now he can heal and so can you. Before you know it, the stress will be behind you both. Being that she had to do more cutting actually makes me happy since she obviously took a good look inside to make sure she got it all. Is that what the vet told you too?

Assi, what anesthesia did the vet give Hansel? Was it a gas or was it through an IV?

when they did the Biobsy , I think it was thru an IV and it was quick in and out. He did really well with that. But she wanted to do the slower one this time, to make it easier on him. Or the healthier one ? I am not sure . But he did not do well on this one, thats what she said.
Yes, she did say, it was a challenge, she had to cut more to make sure it does not come back. It was also a challenge to regrahp it, since she thought she could get away with it, but couldnt .

So good you could spend the day with him and make sure he is not messing with his surgical site. Do the pain meds seem to be keeping him comfortable?
I'm hoping after the first couple of days he will start to not be so bothered by the wrap.
How are you doing, Assi? I know I'm just a wreak when my kits are sick.

Ok, good to hear that was why she did more cutting. You need to find out the name of both anesthesias. Especially the one that he didn't do well with. It's important for you to know, not only for it to be noted in his chart at the vet's office.

I am doing much better too, i was glad that i could take this day short notice off and tomorrow Art is home so he has supervision. I think he has to stay in the Cone of shame other then feeding times, because he is just not letting it alone.
His eyes get Huge right after we give him the meds, but he is not getting tired off of them. He is sleeping now and his doses of Meds are at 10am and 10 pm every day.
I am glad though when he is allowed to have the Bandage off and him not messing with the leg.

Sorry to hear about his need for surgery and sending healing thoughts your way! I just had to comment on the cone. It's far better that they have to tolerate the cone than damage the incision. We learned the hard way with our collie. The vet said "oh, he won't need to wear the cone, just watch him" it was my fault for not watching close enough and we had to return to the emergency clinic for more stitches.

Update : Today was the Day for the Re check and re bandaging of Hansel's paw/leg.

I dropped him off at the Vet and she had a busy morning, so she said she probably will get to him mid day. So since he was not having a feeding till 4pm anyways, Art picked him up when he got off work at 3.30.
She told him, she was herself amazed in how good he healed ! It looks so good she said, it looks more healed then 4 days . She rebandaged it and told us we probably want to pick a bigger cone up for him, since he can reach his leg with the one he had .
He has to keep this bandage on till this weekend and then we can take it off and he can take care of his own stitches and pull them out himself. By then he should be awesome healed . SInce its so healed already.
I havent seen it yet , ARt either. But she said she is super impressed with the progress.

So after work Mommy Meanny went to the Store and got a bigger cone for him.
hansel bigger cone.jpg

he is MAD !!! But he can not reach his leg. He does have lots of room in there and its also not tight around his neck, because he does not have the extra paw to peel it off ! hehe Mean mommy !!
So needles to say he is mad and meowing when he sees us. We can take it easy off , for feeding . Lets see how this night goes with it. He was drving me insane.

I am soooooooo happy !!!! Hoping for him to heal quicker and more for this week !!
