Thank you all so much for your positive thoughts and prayers today. We got a call from the vet and Loki is woke up from the anesthesia.
They didn't find any obstruction, but they said it looked very irritated and inflamed in there. They took a swab and are going to send it to labs. There was no mass, no cancer, etc.

She said at this point, until they get the testing back, they believe it is feline herpes that is causing the inflammation. And that a lot of times in cats, they can irritate it even more, for example with the coughing etc.

We are going to be picking him up at 8pm (2 hrs from now) to bring him home. They are sending us home with medication to help with the herpes. They also said we can continue with the antibiotic we got last night. And also to continue with L-Lysine which is a treatment for herpes.

Thank you all again, means so much to have this amazing and supportive community!

Thank you all for your prayer and positive thoughts, it means so much.
Just wanted to give another an update. We actually brought Loki back into the vet this afternoon. His breathing wasn't sounding great, as he is so congested but also the inflammation is really bad. We couldn't get even any water or anymore food into him. He was pushing it all out, and we were just stressing him out more. He was also more lethargic, probably because he hasn't eaten or drank much. We just were worried with how he seemed and thought it would be best.

They are keeping him for 24 hours, and will have him on IV fluids. They will also be giving him his meds, and lysine and we brought his food in so they will continue to try and give him some good in addition to the IV fluids. Currently he hasn't eaten any food yet, but our recent update he is stable, and doing well and is resting and sleeping.

Also wanted to update that I heard back from our vet about the xray and the heart. It just so happened that our cardiologist was on location doing echocardiograms at our regular vets office. So our vet and cardiologist both looked at the xray taken on Monday night when we first brought Loki in. She said that it did look enlarged on the xray, but that when measured it was still within the normal range. And that on an xray compared to and echo, hearts always look larger as you can see the heart itself with the echo and measure exactly and it doesn't include fat around the heart which an xray would.
From the one side of the scan is where it looked slightly enlarged which she thinks was the fat, and the other view was completley normal. Seeing the xray, and reading his notes from his exam with her in February (as we did a preventative HCM/heart scan for both Loki & Gatsby), she was comfortable saying that his heart is normal, and not enlarged. And also that she doesn't think the sounds of his symptoms now have anything to do with the heart. So that was a big sigh of relief.

Thank you all again.

Sorry to hear Loki needed to go back to the vet. But Loki is in good hands with the vet and they can give him the care he needs now. Hopefully the meds will do their work and the inflammation will get less worse. And good new about his heart! Keep on sending positive thoughts and healing vibes. A big hig for you

Just a quick update:

Loki is still at the hospital, it's day 2 at the hospital and they want to keep him for another 24 hours. He was still not eating, and was very congested, and drooly. He is more bright eyed and responding well though, we visited him twice (yesterday and today). It is so hard to see him so sick, truly heartbreaking.

Yesterday his lab results came back and he tested positive for feline herpes and also tested positive for mycoplasm. So he is on antibiotics, an antiviral, an anti-inflammitory, as well as lysine and anti-nausea shots as needed.

He ate a bit of tuna yesterday, and had tuna this morning at 9am, and 12pm. So ate least he is starting to eat a bit since his last full meal was on Monday night, and he ate a little portion on Tuesday morning. But of course at this point in time, they don't want to send him home because they want him to be able to eat and drink on his own. They are monitoring him closely, he had a fever yesterday, but doesn't have a fever anymore today.

Thank you all for your thoughts and concerns, it means a lot <3 <3 <3 @Yoda mom @Catzzzmeow @Toa and Ross @Kate @MollysMom @Hairless Blessing

@Nicolemorgan...
I might be new to the group but I know how horrible it is to worry about your little fur (or in this case furless) baby. Sending lots of prayers and good vibes your way.

Thank you so much @lizzybether <3
I tried to tag you in the post above but it didn't let me. Thank you for your prayers and good vibes.

Awh..thank you so much @Toa and Ross. When we saw Loki today we just kept telling him how much his mommies loved him and how he has to start eating and feeling better soon. That Gatsby misses him and wants him better too.
Thank you for continuing to send positive thoughts and healing vibes. Thank you! <3

I had to reread...my posts updated weird. I am so sorry to see he is still not feeling well. It is great they know what they are dealing with (mycoplasma) they have specific antibiotics to battle this. Hopefully they give him a kick start.

Yes, I hope it starts to kick in soon. They did prescribe him specific medication for the mycoplasma.
So I hope his symptoms can start improving soon, which I know will also help with him wanting to eat!

@Nicolemorgan, Morgan, how did the night go for Loki? Did he eat on his own anymore, drooling less, fever staying down? The new antibiotic should hopefully have kicked in by now.

Wishing you and Nicole the best news today from the vet's office/hospital. "Come on, Loki!"

BIG HUGS
Robin

Hello everyone, I have some happy news! We got an update this morning with the overnight doctor. She said that Loki did really well overnight, and ate everytime they went to feed him, which is every 4 hours.
No more fever, he is bright and happy, and she said he was not as drooly overnight how he was yesterday. The only thing is he still is very congested.

But she said how things are going, they are comfortable sending him home today. This way he can be home and in his environment. She did say, viruses are hard as you don't know how long they will take to run their course, but with how he was eating over the past 24 hours, they are happy with that. We have to monitor him, and if he stops eating or drinking, we will contact the vet again But hopefully the medications will keep helping him improve, and the virus will get less, and he will want to start eating more.

So we picked our baby Loki up at 12pm. he is home now and sleeping and resting. We have lots of meds to continue giving him over the next couple weeks, and so much love and care. I'm sure he will be able to rest better being home.

Thank you for all your messages and checking up on him and all your vibes and prayers. Although he's still pretty sick, we know he will heal up soon. ❤️

My goodness, what a stressful journey. I am so glad though, however, you have such great veterinarians around you. And Loki is so lucky to have you! I'm glad that Loki is on the mend and will continue to improve under your loving care. Please keep reporting back. You are awesome.
