How is he doing today?

Not much of an improvement yet. Martin called the vet and she said it is too soon to see the swelling go down and that we need to wait until Monday before we know if it worked. So off we go into the dreaded weekend, hoping we don't need to visit an emergency vet (though the vet said that nothing could really happen to it and the meds are also painkillers so there isn't much discomfort for Lucifer).
He was bouncing around this morning when I got up for work, not much out of the ordinary there!

Thank you all for your sweet words, I'll be sure to whisper them in Lucifer's ear and let them work their magic :nurse:

Thanks for letting us know. Lucifer doesn't seem too discomfited, so that's something at least. I will keep everything crossed and send healing vibes that the swelling starts to diminish and that the next vet visit will be productive.

I hope that Lucifer is doing better by now. Vito has one of these too that he hates me squeezing, but it has never swollen like that. Hugs and headbutts for Lucifer and of course Samael too.

UPDATE: It burst open!! Yay :)

It's still not completely empty but this is a great development. We cleaned it out with a little Dettol soap (as recommended by a vet tech) and will do that three times a day as well as continue to give him the anti inflammatory medicine. Do any of you have additional tips?

I'm very relieved and am anxious to hear what the vet says Monday!

Great news. I, hope by the time Monday comes, there will be an amazing difference.
I, wonder, Will this ever come back or since, it's burst and drained, plus, antibiotics,
will that take care of it?

Oh disgusting! But the good kind of disgusting! Grin. I am glad to hear it burst on its own. Hoping he heals up well and that you can keep it under control from now on with Maintience again.

I hope this is the last time sweet Lucifer has to deal with it. Get totally better soon, Lucifer! I bet you and Martin are relieved.
Much love,

I thought I'd give you a little update on Lucifer. He is doing pretty well, the bump is getting smaller and smaller. I'll attach a picture of how it looks right now.

We spoke to the vet today and she was pleased as well. She said to continue with the Metacam (anti inflammatory) and start with a course of antibiotics tonight to really get rid of the infection. So hopefully they'll kick in soon and we'll be seeing the last of it within a week or so!
