We have answers! The nutrient absorbing structures in his intestines are blunt, and aren't doing what they need to. This isn't great news, of course, but we're doing a round of metronidazole and Hydrolyzed protein food and probiotics for life. I'm glad we know what's going on, even if it's not the best news ever. Thanks everyone for the crossed fingers and prayers!

Thanks for updating…it might not be the news you wanted to hear, but it’s great you know what is going on and can make a new road map/make plans.

@Yoda mom So far, so good. Still having loose stool from at least one of them, but overall he's doing well. Slightly less energetic than usual, but we're removing the stitches in the next day or two, so hopefully that'll help. I also got them a wheel, and they'll learn to love it (I hope).

@Yoda mom There was some urine with blood on it in their room on the floor last night, but I'm not sure from who. Bunny's furpes or allergies are bothering her pretty badly today, so poor baby is wheezing and sneezing pretty bad. We're gonna try and get her to the vet asap.

Human news- I have a semi official diagnosis of dysautonomia from the cardiologist, but unfortunately the testing wasn't conclusive enough to know what form I have. Conservative treatment for now, so extra salty diet, lots of water, more exercise, and compression clothes. I found a breeder I really like for mini poodles, which my trainer and I agreed will probably work best for my needs in a service dog.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone! I got home last Tuesday from 5 days in Virginia visiting one of my close friends for her birthday. I'd only flown twice before, and that was with a friend, so four flights by myself was a bit daunting. I managed it though, and had a ton of fun! I got to see mountains for the first time, visit West Virginia, and more.
Other news, welcome home Mercury! He's my Service Dog prospect. We just got him yesterday. He's a 3 month old mini poodle, and we're thinking about attempting shows. He is show quality from a long time show breeder, and she was extreme excited that we're interested in showing so she's happy to show us the ropes.

@MaddieP sounds like a purrfect birthday trip!
Melt my heart happiest adorable Mercury gotcha! All paws crossed he is a purrfe t service dog. Fyi I did conformation training with my adopted aussie from a long time show dog person. She even bought me a custom shoe lead to match his colors! It is extremely political imho. When I showed up for my first show, I got the who are you looks and was told don't expect to win anything bcz the judge just had dinner with the mum of the dog behind you in line. I was shocked!!! Lol , Gunnar and I did our down and back, stood in the lune up a d judge pointed 1,2,3. Omg ! 1st show and we got 3rd place. I got a lot of glares lol. Scooped gunnar up a d left a d never did a show again. Got his ribbon in a scrap book and retired my shoes lol. It was definitely a Learning experience how clicky it all is. , let alone very expensive to title a pup. Just a little heads up :) from my 1st time shoe experience :)
Keep us updated with pics n tauls! Hugs n head smooches to all

@Yoda mom I have heard showing is ultra political, so I'm not surprised. I want to learn more about it, and since I have a willing tutor, I figure it's worth a shot. If I don't have the energy, or he's not fit for it, it's okay. I'm not going to stress too hard about it. Our main goal is making him a great service dog. He's very sweet, and pretty calm for a puppy. We'll be going to the vet in the morning, and starting obedience classes soon so we can get a jump start on the basics.
P.S. Show name will probably be Donnchada Starlit's Another One Bites the Dust ☺️

@MaddieP , precious photos! Lol Ebi's photo!
Mercury is darling! all paws crossed for the wellness check this morning.
He is going to be the pawfect service dog with such a sweet disposition. No doubt will do great in shows! glad you have a mentor too! have fun!!
sharing, the obedience club I joined also has "confirmation" training classes and I had a lot of fun! enjoy! my mom still remembers shopping for shoes for me for the show ring. she was laughing when I was in marshalls trying on the shoes in the store with a little "down and Back" tries to see if they stayed on my feet. some others told me about colors to wear that will show off a wonderful top line. many breeders use the little stacking training domes. Puppy Culture site has some great videos too,

it definitely was fun, glad I I tried it.

hugs n head smooches to all paws.

He's such a good boy. We had our first vet visit this morning, and he did fantastic! We have a bit of upper respiratory something going on, and coccidia, but he took his steroid shot like a champ. Recheck is in 3 weeks.
So far, Bunny and Leo love him, Baero isn't sure, Lynnie is fine as long as he isn't moving, and Ebi is Ebi.

We're all doing pretty well, but Lynnie keeps stealing pizza crusts that I have to chase him down to get back. Other than that, I've been busy with checking out local dog shows and training with Mercury. He's the youngest dog I've had, and both my husband and I aren't sure we'll do another puppy. As much as I love him, he's moderately destructive and a bit stubborn.

@MaddieP , thank you for updating us and sharing the adorable photos!!! yes, puppyhood has its moments.

** please please don't let any of yours have pizza crust... speaking from experience, my rottie almost died from pizza dough toxicity. all my life I never heard of it till it happened. my rotties always got a little crust., well it only took once. my fiance gave my rottie pizza crust , not much and I didn't know about bcz I was working. I came home hours later and Duke was i severe pain. I almost gave him his angel wings. turns out it was pizza dough toxicity. the yeast from the dough from little caesar's pizza swelled in his gut!!

thank goodness he survived. I begged my fiance no more pizza crust to my babies.

glad all is well! I always enjoy the dog shows and watch my friends pup in confirmation and agility, dock diving .
keep us updated often , hugs n head smooches to all paws!

I know it's been a while, so updates are in order.
All the kitties are well, and Lynnie got a trip to the mall to see all his adoring fans on Sunday. He purred and rubbed on everyone he saw. Such a troublemaking lovebug!
Leo is his fantabulous, calm, perfect self... and Mercury is making me want to dive into traffic. The breeder has yet to register his litter and seems to be avoiding me, he's incredibly energetic (which isn't ideal for a SD), reactive, and continues to go after the cats no matter how much we correct him. And he WILL NOT POTTY TRAIN!!! I'm slowly losing my mind. We're going to attempt board and train for a month, but if his behavior isn't significantly improved, I'm not sure what to do.

@MaddieP , thanks for chiming in with the adorable updates.
sharing, I have always used large crate to potty train my crew over the decades (no collars on inside crates*)
I got a 54" metal crate . (often deals on chewy/amazon etc). I put some gym interlocking mats under the crate tray for padding ** never leaving any of the rubber mating exposed so they dont chew it.
I had a houdini, so used caribiner clips on the door latches and a small caribiner on the bottom attaching crate door to crate body (yes a big rottie adoptee pushed his way out of the corner door leaving it closed behind him).

I crate and kept a potty time schedule. take out immediately from crate to outside on a lead and command potty. no messing around or play. treat in pocket and immediate praise and treat with a big happy voice like you are having a party. I did this crate training consistently and in no time at all potty trained.
crated , no collars on too when I was not home until proofed on potty training. was not long at all. some train with a bell attached to the door for the dog to touch it when it wants to go out.

I trained my adoptee pups too using the crate to get used to the cats. crate in main room. kitties free roaming. leave it command . then I would work up to leashing pup attached to me during the day while kitties free roamed with leave it command. they quickly caught on that the kitties were part of the pack.
only one dog ever my ex's pup hard a hard eye for the kitties so she was never ever alone with them. only one pup in decades using the crate training method and leash attached to me.

not sure what they do at training sites. do they have videos on site you can watch how they train? can you contact people who have sent their pups their for an honest review.. do your homework for sure.

hugs n head smooches to all paws! keep us updated often
