I was told to draw a line around it, Not at all in it, with a permanent marker and that if it got any bigger to bring her in immediately. But it has already closed back up and looks fine. Since she is on antibiotics a chance of infection Is pretty low. But I am keeping a close eye on it. But I am keeping my fingers crossed that she is healing nicely.I would make a quick call to your vet and ask them. Tell them you can email a picture in case they want a quick look.
That's Definitely good advice, Even if it was from a bite. Althea has actually had to go through draining an abscess before. She got in a cat fight and her entire leg swelled up with puss. That was an ordeal in itself :/. I think I will keep applying a hot compress just to bring it all to the surface. Also, She got a warm bath today and she actually liked it, Lol. The draining has pretty much stopped and its closed up lightly, But it looks like it could be broken open easily if anything else had to come out. Thanks again, You have been very helpfulWhen Monday had an abscess (from a Mortimer bite) and it finally popped I actually kept applying hot compresses every 4 hours or so to keep the wound open and express more puss. After about a day no more puss came out and I let the wound close. I was very careful and used Hibiclens and tried to keep it all as clean as possible of course. A bite wound is entirely different than mastitis though, just thought I'd put it out there.
I am hoping you are right, It seems to be 100% normal other than her draining opening. She also looks to be healing quickly so I am super happy and blessed about thatSounds like you have no red flags. Great advice from vet on circling the area so you can see the margins. Sounds like healing is full progress....

Thank YouSending best wishes that Althea will continue to heal and the kits will continue to thrive. You have really been through a lot with this whole ordeal, and it sounds like you can finally start to relax...until the kittens get old enough to run around the house!
Thank YouI hope she heals soon. It is hard enough being a mommy. She will be in our thoughts and prayers until she Is 100% healed.
