Hello all - this website has been so helpful so far answering questions and getting tips! I have a 7 week old Donskoy sphynx named Carl. I just made him his first vet appointment for first vaccines and possible neutering (how old are they supposed to be?). Carl LOVES to bite and scratch my hands, which is cute and seems playful, but can sometimes hurt especially if he gets my face and a certain part of my hand. Is this common and/or do they grow out of it? Is there anything I should/shouldn't be doing? Thanks in advance for all your help!

@SphynxCatCarl just replied to your other thread...welcome to sphynxlair for you and handsome Carl!
Carl is very young to already be without his catmom. Normally a catmom will teach him what he can and cannot do untill he's about 12 weeks old. Specially things are playing too rough is something they learn to be carefull with from their mom.

Now you need to be his mom and teach him. Be gentle, tell him no and redirect to a toy. It'll take some time and telling over and over again. Be patient, remember he has to learn a lot.

The age of 6 weeks till 14 weeks is the first socialising time, where the mom teaches her kittens a lot. Make sure you spend a lot of time with him so you can help grow into a cute loving cat!

Welcome! We learned early on never to play with any of our kittens with our hands...always a toy. The first 2 hairy cats we had when we got married we made a big mistake lol...they trained us to be better cat parents for the others lol.
