Awe Xan you have been such a big help. I think the only day is Monday feb 15th. I'm gone from 12pm-8:30pm. I can put her in the crate for part of it but not the whole time so I'll need someone to check in. I think by then she will be a real handful as it will be close to the time her splint comes off. My mom might be available she just isn't sure yet and I can always take her to visit my sis (she super owes me on the cat care front) if all else fails so don't feel obligated.

@Hairless Blessing @Toa and Ross thanks for the support. I think she looks good too. Really she has barely slowed down at all. I feel like I'm always catching her and lifting her off surfaces. For instance here she is examining the mouse sounds in the wall. Literally just looked up to see her climb onto the dresser to do this. I really can't turn around without her getting up to something.

Go Frida!! When our boy had his leg in a splint for 8 or 9 weeks, the vet techs got really creative when they changed his splint. They would give him stripes, polka dots, and because his name was Kermit, lots and lots of frogs. I hope that Frida will get splints that reflect her personality!

That sounds so cute. Honestly I was just relieved they picked a darker colour this time. The light blue made the sphynx grease WAY too obvious. The violet is really pretty though and matches her favorite sweater. They did end up wiping her down for me and making her nice and clean so hopefully she wont be in such a sorry state when we take her in for the change next wed. Who knows maybe they will do something cuter next week. I do plan to continue forcing photos on you guys every week so you will get to see. ;p

Things are going well for the most part. Frida is doing fine without medication. She still sleeps and eats a lot, but is also more alert and active than before. It has been a bit of a challenge to restrict her activity. Yesterday I had to change her collar back to the Elizabethan cone because I found her chewing at her splint. I'm hoping that I will be able to switch back to the doughnut style soon but I'm going to have to keep a close watch. We have another checkup and splint change coming up on Wednesday so we will see what the vet says about everything. I have also noticed a weird little bump in her armpit behind the bandage. I'm not sure if it is just a pimple? It feels hard to the touch and is in the skin not under it. (Hopefully this makes sense) I plan to ask the vet about it too but if anyone here knows what it might be...

You can try blowing the donut up a little more so it's a little firmer. But then again, I know it's hard to slow these guys down sometimes.

Don't know what the little bump can be. Looks like a pimp out of irritation. We have a word in Dutch for this kind of pimps but don't know the word in English and google translate doesn't want to translate it.
I mean a pimp that can stay for months and can hurt. It will burst open out of his own. If it burst open you need to desinfect to make no others come. But don't know if it's really that kind of pimp. Only looks like it

Hey everyone. Frida had her follow up appointment this morning instead of Wednesday because my lovely lady somehow managed to shift her splint in the middle of the night! It slid about halfway down her arm and I was in an absolute panic that she was harming her healing! I'm so glad that there is always someone at the clinic to call because otherwise I would have rushed her off to the ER, but they reassured me it could wait until morning and they got me in first thing. The vet has reassured me that all is well, they changed her splint and she is home being cozy with my mom to babysit. The vet says that the inside was covered in her Frida Sphynx oils! Though she claims this isn't the reason for slippage. They made this splint extra secure this time so she shouldn't be able to wiggle out of this one. They also say that the bump is probably just a pimple from the having the bandage goop on there, but to keep an eye on it (of course!) so even though it was a bit of a stressful night all is well.
