I find it so incredible difficult to name animals, I just feel there is some significance in that giving of a name perhaps because my own name is just familiar ones put together.

Ferret names i have seclected over the years are.
Tilly, Tobias(Toby), Samuel (Sam), Sausage, Sophie, Deliaha, Ida.
Custard,Mouse, Hunter

I help out at a ferret rescue and sometimes get to name the fosters.

My two little dogs comes with their names and are older with good recall so they are Fred and Pixie

Ludwig was a hedgehog I breifly looked after
Sofia the hairless rat

And now we have kitty and I have hit a brick wall.
He looked so elegant and masculine in his photo so I had picked out Todd
But then when I actually met him he is a silly affectionate clown who was alot smaller then I expected.

I have tasked myself with trying to find something by the end of the week.

My parter calls my eight year old dog Mr Whiskers which he now responds too.
An my hairless crested is Jennifer Andersion because of her hair cut. *giggles*

@Helen perhaps look up famous clown names. Your description of him is so sweet. Looking forward to hearing what you finally feel fits your new boy.

Why not name the cat with the day it was born on. Like Wednesday (thinking of Wednesday Addams from the Addams family) ;)

It was easy for me to pick the name Mulder - I already have a Scully and she needed her partner in crime. Before the light on that name went off though I was thinking of Bast or Bastet after the Egyptian cat god!

I always try to stay away from obvious names. I've seen so many Sphynxes named Dobby! Not knocking the name at all (we all love Dobby) but it seems to be common, my hubby's co-worker even had a Sphynx named that! Like in the bearded dragon world, Spike, Puff, seems like every other dragon is named that. And now with GoT being so popular, loooots of Khaleesi o_O

I prefer non-human names for my pets. My cat is Fluffy, the second one we are thinking about getting will be called (if I get my way) Whiskers. I have 3 budgies called Banana, Kiwi and Squawky. I also like the name Mittens for a cat...

I've always liked 1) field commissions (I'm a pacifist though, nonmilitary) 2)foreign linguistics (we're as US white middle-class as they come) and 3) last names

Rufus (Commander Rufus von Wrinkleberg)
-Latin "red head" for the red&white

Zafi (Lt. Commander Zafiro Arrugas)
-Spanish "sapphire" "wrinkles" for the lilac&white

I'm not saying the system is ideal, but it works for us

We just got our first sphynx and are still trying to figure out a name. Our Maine Coons name is Zima, but he came with that name. We have two budgies they are T-Rex and Raptor.

Hello and welcome @AlexaEels. I know the name game can be so difficult but when the right one fits you know it instantly! We had a harder time naming our girls for some reason compared to the boys.

We have a little boy. Still trying to figure out the best name for him. If my husband had his way we would name him Bob lol

How about Trebor which is Robert backwards? Nice and masculine and different lol. @AlexaEels

That is a very great name, but would be odd with all the Roberts in our family. Very creative though. :) I really appreciate the help. So far my husband likes Dobby, Tofu and Bob. Blah. I have not even thought of a name yet. He is such a sweetheart and the biggest cuddle bug. He can't seem to get enough kisses either.
