UPDATE...
We are about a week off the 21 day Tylan powder treatment.. and have been off the probiotics for a long time now. I'm starting to see the ice cream type of serve poop again and poop on her tail and on top of her litterbox. I know she likes to pick up food crumbs from the kids and am hoping she just ate some left overs, but I am wondering if any of you had to do the Tylan powder for more than one round? I am wondering if she just needs a second round of meds to clear it up the rest of the way. ALSO, what are other preventative ways to keep bad bacteria from happening? How often do you clean out the cage, fully clean the litter box, bedding items, and what do you use?

My two boys both did 1 round of Tylosin to start and then Freeway had to do a second round immediately following. He showed little to no improvement with the first. Then was 100% better after the second.
I don’t think it matters but we used pill form, not powder, but I think it’s the same med just different delivery.

I just went to check the history.
They took 50mg once a day for 14 days. Frost cleared up. Freeway continued with another 14 days.

How has her weight been lately? Is she still eating well as of lately? If your still using the r/d I wonder if you can talk to your vet about using pumpkin instead? R/D is a weight loss food so, even in small amounts, might not be helpful for her as shes trying to gain weight. Pumpkin has lots of fiber and has been used by many around the lair when they need extra fiber. I wonder at this point if her health doesn't improve if you may consider discussing with your vet about having a ultrasound done. I had a sphynx with diagnosed health issues. He had chronic vomiting, diarrhea, as well as weight loss. Once I got the ultrasound done it answered all the questions on what was going on inside. Since all of the tests are coming back negative this might be something you want to mention. Fortiflora is a good probiotic for cats and has been a helpful resource for some as well.

I once had a poor cat on antibiotics for months before we could get rid of bacteria so I feel for you.

That said, the issue could also be that the food isn't sitting well with her. If it were me I would switch to a bland diet such as boiled chicken for a few days. This gives her system a chance to detox. Try it for a week and see if it helps; if not then at least you know the food isn't the culprit.

Her weight is great. She is back up to over 7 lbs. The Vet doesn't want her on any human food what so ever, he even had me take her off my homeopathic medicines she was on. ( S boulardii & Slippery Elm Bark). R/D is a weightloss food, but it has lots of fiber and we only use 1/4 of a can a day. I mix her Tylan Powder and her (1/4 c.) Hills dry food with it in the am/pm and offer her just Hills between those meals. Since we saw solid improvements after the PROVIABLE FORTE, r/d, and the Tylan he said that we would run a longer course of the r/d and tylan. The only things that have come back negative are the parasite tests, her poop samples for bacteria have always come back saying she had it. Now that she has been back on r/d and tylan we have been solid again.

UPDATE:: Talked to the vet after the soft stools had persisted, it must have not just been table snacks she took off with from the baby. Since the Tylan and r/d had worked to clear up and make her solid he suggested we do an even longer round to clear up any remaining bacteria. We are instructed as follows:
give 1/16 of a tsp mixed with food,
every 12 hours for 7 days
every 24 hours for 7 days
every 48 hours for 7 days
every 72 to 96 hours for maintenance.
Devlinn is back to solids only a few days in. Thank goodness!!!

Cuddle Time

Its so hard to get a good photo of her not moving... All clean after a bath...

Cut her a new sock sweater, excuse her nails and ears this was before her bath..

She walked up to my 2 year old and cuddled her.. we call her Elmyra hahah so this was odd.. but precious..

If this look doesnt say "I'm about to do something I am not suppose to" idk what else does. She came up to cuddle him and then he tried to lay on her, which immediately got him in trouble and relocated to another area.

UPDATE.. After being on the Tylan for over a week with no results, soft serve poo, we put her back on the proviable forte probiotics after we are done with the paste/pills he will give her more pills and wean her off after a longer period. She's still on 1/6 of a can of r/d with the Hills food and the Tylan powder 1/16 of a teaspoon. I'll be cleaning out the catbox tomorrow and hoping for more solid bm's.

So, She finished her Proviable a little bit ago and it seemed like it didn't help we were still experiencing soft serve. The last cat box change yesterday showed more solid poops although. I am not sure why although? Did the proviable finally kick in, or is it because she's off of it? Not sure. The vet did tell me if it didn't improve and stay improved we would need to go back in for another checkup. She currently is still on her 1/6 of a can of r/d with her food and Tylan.

Her food (Hill's Science Diet, Active Longevity 7+) has;
crude protein min 28%
crude fat min 16.5%
crude fiber min 3.5%
moisture max 8%
phosphorus max 0.9%
sodium max 0.5%
vitamin # min 550 IU
ascorbic acid (vitamin c) min 85mg

her poop results have all came pack negative except for high amounts of bacteria. I know my Aunt has other cats and she said that they have never really had solid poops either. I know although that Devlinn can have solid poops, I've seen it with my own eyes when she pooped on my rug in my bathroom after she had been on her first round of proviable. I was also giving her 1/4 of a can of r/d a day back then. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. She is a good weight and still has been able to gain with the r/d, which is why the vet has us on it.

she eats 1/4 cup of her kibble with the r/d and Tylan in the morning and at night and she does free feed kibble during the day. We just make sure her bowl has a little something in it throughout the day.

I had read good things about the hairball food. That may be my next thing I ask the vet about.

We have not tested her thyroid. Since he still sees the bacteria in the fecal. I know the next step after the prolonged Tylan is steroids. Fingers crossed she gets regular soon. Other than that things are great! She seems to love it here I do wonder sometimes if she gets lonely not being around all her siblings. But she does live the kids, most of the time.

Devlinn update. Tylan ran out and the wet food did too. Both didn’t change her situation. Changed a lot of poop or vomit bedding the last few months. It’s been a rough time! I need to make it back to the vet soon. But in the meantime I texted my Aunt and asked her how her cats we’re doing. One of her cats had the same issue but way worse. She told me they switched to meow mix original cat food and now all cats are solid and the super sick one she had is healthy again. I know it’s like not the most ideal food, with so many on here feeding raw and what not but I guess it works for the cats. They tried some expensive foods. I think I’m going to give it a go and see if it helps. I’m at my wits end with this poop issue.

Finally Nutrisource cat and kitten food in the blue bag worked wonders for her IBD
Touted for digestibilty amd palatebilty no recalls
She is like s new kitty

I’m here for an update... meow mix has worked! I see solid turds, almost all are. I am so relieved. Idk why this was the magical fix but it was. So so strange. I’m happy! She’s no longer covered in poop. Which is amazing!!!
