Getting a 3rd cat - too much?

Hi all,

Bit torn what to do. I've had my female Sphynx Gabbi for a year now which makes her nearly 1.5 years old. I recently (12 days ago) added a male Devon Rex kitten (Oscar) to the family. First few days were shaky but now they're great friends tearing around the house like nutters and licking one another in the evening. Gabbi only hisses when he constantly follows her round the house, litterbox, her bed, etc.. She does like some space to herself sometimes!

Before getting Oscar the Devon Rex, I was enquiring about a female Sphynx who is about 11 weeks old now. I was a little impatient and impulsive and went with the Devon Rex because I did want a male cat. No denying, Oscar is gorgeous and I love him to bits. However I still really want the little female Sphynx! Maybe because I imagined her being with us in my head for weeks? She is just so stunning and seeing the breeder advertise her now, is kinda killing me inside.

How do you think this would affect the dynamics in the house if I got her too? It wasn't that long ago I added the male kitten and Gabbi has done amazing considering she's been by herself with us for a year and never had to share her space. The female Sphynx kitten will be available towards the end of September/early October. Would my current female Sphynx get upset as she's no longer the only female? Does anyone else have two females, one male? Am I naive thinking the two kittens could play so Gabbi could get more peace?

Or am I totally being selfish? Just feels like something is missing.. My heart will always deep down be with the Sphynx I feel! Be honest, no offence will be taken.

@Elaina go! Go! Go! Go get the female sphynx! Gaby could accept Oscar so she will also accept a new little girl as long as she can be the queen.
But maybe I'm saying this cause deep down in my heart I want to add a 3 sphynx to my household?

@Elaina Trust your gut. Our decision to grow the family was based on balance/happiness of the crew. We had 2 males and a female. All was quiet on the home front. When we lost our girl, we found our naked boy was crying and at a loss, so we thought it would be great to get him a new cuddly girl hoping to fill the void. Well, we were wrong. Babas was was 9 years older than the kitten Jouët and she terrorized him. Needless to say, we opted to get Jouët a kitten of her own 6 months later just so she did not bother Babas as much...lol. Soooo Azura was a gift for Jouët and we again found balance/peace once again. The older boys just do not want to be bothered with the pesky girls and sure we hear them hiss and tell them when upset, but overall adding a cat made the house feel balanced again. Our home is small and I really felt 3 cats was a good limit, but the 4th made it just right due to their personalities and energy level.

That being said, it might be a good thing for you due to different energy levels etc. I personally found the cost of going from 2 to 3 was nominal. No big change in bills for food/litter etc...just the bills for vets of course you cannot guesstimate. There was a big difference in cost for 3 to 4 though. adding another litter box, more litter more food, more everything. Well, that's my 2 cents.
