It looks pretty gnarly but it’s drying up and a ton is starting to slough off revealing fresh skin underneath. The darkest parts are questionable but the lighter areas are revealing clean skin underneath. The rest of his body that isn’t affected is just as smooth/oily as it was before and all the pimples have disappeared
Sooooo happy and relieved to hear this! It looks so much better already. Fingers crossed he doesn't need any surgery.

Your little man is looking pretty good all things considered. It is great that there is no evidence of RW, but I guess it wouldn't survive being burnt off. Poor fella. Glad he is feeling more himself.

I apologize I haven’t been back with an update sooner. Good news is his burns are healing good and he won’t need surgery. Bad news is he has giardia and herpes. So this poor guys on pain meds, antibiotics, antivirals, anti parasites, and a prescription diet. He has a topical cream we apply once a day and weekly visits to the vet. But overall considered how messed up he is he is a happy kitten. We give him plenty of love and he doesn’t seem to notice his current condition lol. Just before I got him from the breeder she had said something about him having an eye issue and when I saw him he had watery eyes so I guess that was a flare up but his eyes were fine when once I took him home and I can only assume he got the giardia from the breeders as well. Just hoping this dude doesn’t pick up another thing it’s like once a week something new comes up we have to start treating ‍

@CatDaddy702 sooo Happy to see your update on Vikar.. I was soo worried.
glad he is healing from the burns and won't need surgery.

giardia has been commonly seen and treated with several sphynx here. and many kitties would in fact test positive for corona, herpes is my understanding @Toa and Ross posted about in the past.

I am glad VIkar is happy and healing ... sometimes it takes a round or two of the meds to clear up the giardia..
did they give "metronidazole" Flagyl, we commonly see for treating giardia.

poor little dude has had a rough start... he is a strong fella! on the road to recovery!
He is certainly loved and cared for beyond measure..
let hope all gets healed up and you can go on without any more meds :)
so happy no surgery for the burns.. phew..
hugs and head smooches..
you got this

keep us updated..look forward to pics

Thank you. Yeah they have him on metronidazole and another dewormer to knock it out completely and have him on a probiotic to help his gut get back to normal.

Good to hear the burns are healing. Hopefully witg the meds the other health issues will soon be over soon too. So you can finally just enjoy and be happy!

*Warning Graphic Pictures*

Unfortunately a culture was taken and it contained a pretty aggressive bacteria and the scabs were so thick that they were having difficulty treating the infection so they decided it would be best to go ahead with debridement. The vet said she had anticipated that once they removed the thick scabs that there would be raw skin underneath that could then be easier to treat but unfortunately the burns were much more severe and all of the skin was compromised and had to be cut away. They stitched him up and he’s doing well now at home recovering. He hates his cone and sweater but otherwise he’s on good drugs and doesn’t seem to be bothered.

What a nightmare. Thank goodness these kitties have a lot of extra skin.

I can’t help but feel a lot of anger in my heart about this whole thing. No animal, especially a baby, should ever have to go through something like this.

What a journey you have been on.
You may want to look at cat surgery recovery suits. Like suitical brand. They are on Amazon. They will completely cover the surgery site and leave room for potty time. To give him a rest from the cone.
I wish you all lots of healing. Keeping you and Vikar in my heart. Thanks for sharing his story.

Yeah he actually has one on but he hates it so without the cone he just tries to tear it off but they said he should be able to lose the cone by Monday
