I NEED YOUR HELP

Hey guys I have a 1yr old sphynx names Rosie. In January I adopted a cat from the spca. Ever since then Rosie has been throwing up and pooping straight blood. My bathroom looks like a crime scene constantly. We have tried EVERYTHING. We have treated her for giardia, possible ibs with hypoallergenic food, we've done fecal smears and treated her for possible bacteria overgrowth. Fenbendozol (probably spelled wrong) the treatment for giardia suppresses her symptoms and she seemingly gets better but as soon as the treatment it over it happens all over again and she's just as sick with vomiting and pooping blood. This is not diarrhea it's at least half a cup of blood with a little piece of poop at the end. I've spent thousands of dollars and I'm really hoping someone can help

@Emma yikes! That's a whole lot of blood! Sorry to hear your dealing with this issue. Did the vet made x-rays? Are Rosie and the other cat getting along well? Could it be stress related?

I never saw of heared of this before so I have no clue. Hoping other, more experienced members chime in. All fingers and paws crossed for Rosie

I would definitely get a copy of Rosie's chart notes and test results
Amd seek a second opinion with fresh set of eyes ..
My heart feels for you and your baby ..

Perhaps a local veterinary university?

We haven't done X-rays yet but they do get along so I don't think it's stress and thank you for your reply!

I haven't yet that's my next step, I dealt with this vet when my last sphynx was passing away so I've stuck it out but it's getting ridiculous

It is a simple fix, but look up slippery elm bark for cats. Its like a natural gut healing herb that is safe for cats. PM me if you have questions... you said they treated for IBS, did they look at IBD?

Thank you I'll look into that!! And yes they looked at both, but because she's only one and she got sick right after I adopted the other cat they thought a parasite was more likely

Take her to a specialist asap. Take the pics and copies
of her chart. I would go to a University, near you.
Doesn't matter if it's a few hrs away. Go.
They are the best and have many specialists there.
Plus all the machines for test. Keep us updated.

@Hairless Blessing in Canada there is only a few universities that's have veterinarian parts, so it could be provinces away. There is only five in the whole country. But as always a great suggestion

@Emma i knowif a handful of great vets in bc/Alberta just depends where you are located! Hopefully it all gets sorted out!!

Well you may be in luck!!! Guelph Has a vet school. You should see if they offer a clinic!!! Not sure how far that is but at least it's in your province. They might even be able to suggest a clinic/vet that might be of help

Poor baby, does she look like she is in pain? My old 17 year old cat started having pretty severe diarrhea with blood (but no where near as bad as what your poor baby has!) We did all sort of tests and then my vet said sometimes it's just age. She gave me some powder probiotics for cats and within a couple of days my girl's diarrhea stopped! I don't think this would cure whatever your baby has but it might help relieve the diarreah. It's called Forti Flora. I give it to my girl every day (the vet said it was very safe). Here's a picture of the box. You should be able to get it at a vet clinic. Good luck and keep us posted!! Sending you hugs and good vibes!!

I second this FortiFlora suggestion. I have seen really good results (gut calming) in friends' cats that try it, & most of them see almost immediate results. My veterinarian friend gives some to his cats every day. I would hope this would be good to stop the water loss. That's extremely important when so much liquid is coming out.

With so much blood loss I'd also be concerned about anemia & other blood-balance issues, but I'm no vet & I worry a bit about my girls. I also second the idea to get another opinion, if possible.

I'm dealing with the sensitive stomach issues & very occasionally, there's a bit of blood. I also have tried various foods & currently are having good results from Nulo brand, which has a bit of probiotics in it. (Breeder recommended to try it a month ago). She's now like a new cat, instead of our "little wrinkly old lady" at 3 years old. I just had to find the right combination of nutrients for her. I hope you can find a fix for your nekkid baby as well! Best of luck to you.

Update: we are treating her for the parasite tritichomonas (hopefully spelled right). She is taking an anti nausea pill until the parasite treatment is done. If the bloody diarrhea continues we are going to try to treat with tylosin to see if hat stops the bloody episodes

Fingers crossed that this cures her!! I was wondering if your rescue cat had any of the symptoms too? He might be infected even if he doesn't display the symptoms or be a carrier. Then he could potentially re-infect her again after she is done these treatments.

He hasn't displayed any symptoms but we've treated him for everything as well just in case he was a carrier! No risks here hahaha playing it safe

May i ask where do you get this type of food ( Nulo )? My kitty is also has a sensitive digestion, so i thought to try it sad well. Thank you in advance.
