Red, inflamed bumps - OUCH! Help…

Hey, Sphynxlair Community -

Our sweet kitty has a gnarly break-out of large, red, incomfy bumps on her head. It started with about 1-2 bumps and right when we throught they were going away more popped up!!

She has eaten the same freeze-dried duck morsels by Stella & Chewy since we got her from her breeder. Since then, we’ve introduced her to the salmon & chicken kind as well as freeze dried treats.

I recently bought the same food but new bags and then this rash popped up. Anyone aware of a formula change?

Can kitties develop an intolerance if they eat the same food for too long?

Does this rash look like a food allergy or maybe something chemical / topical irritating it??

I have sooo many questions and don’t know where to start re: getting down to the bottom of this.

Kida is about 6 months old fyiii and her behavior is 100% normal like she doesn’t realize they’re there…

Any advice, insight or similar experiences welcome!!

Hmm so maybe it’s something synthetic! We did switch dish detergents… re: kitty litter, we’ve used natural pine kitty litter since bringing her home

Are the bumps only on her head? Does she rub her head against something?

Hello, I am experiencing the same with my boy. He has 1 on his head, 1 on ear, and 1 on front foot. It almost looks like they are burn marks, but there’s no way he could’ve been burned. They start out as a bump (kinda looks like pimple) but once scratched or rubbed they turn into the burn/scab. Can you give me some suggestions? I feel so bad for him but don’t know what to do.

@Adriangriff , welcome to the lair family. all paws are family.
do you have a vet check? not to alarm but any round skin issues I would ask vet , share pic with vet to rule out any possibility of ringworm for peace of mind.

It does look like like a burn. The spray about does wonders for all kinds of skin issues and great to have on hand. Spray on a cotton ball and apply. It is not toxic if ingested. I would keep and eye if more spots see a vet…also see are they rubbing against something that would cause this like the sisal on a cat tree etc. Is the one on the foot the one they are scratching the ear with etc.
